I'll agree with JAS_3001. It is not a works bay.

I am one of those who've done the work to JABAS 4. The two of us decided to do what we did, with permission, because JABAS 4 had been placed under cover. We wanted it to look respectable and we wanted it to have a good chance of surviving however long it takes for a group of peopel to do a complete cosmetic restoration on it.

Of course it is. It makes a very good static exhibit which was all it was intended to be.

For lease - depot, slightly used but recently renovated...

O.K, well explain me this: When I visited the RTM in 2004 3085 was in the display roads, and when I next visited in 2006 it was next to J&A Brown No. 4.

Greg for once instead of teling other people what they should be doing why dont you get off your @ss and volunteer yourself.
Your allways the first person thats allways jumping in telling other people they should be doing this and doing that when you dont even lift a finger for the preservation movement.

Judging by the amount of photos taken while "working" 42101 generally doesnt appear to "lift a finger" unless a camera is involved

i dont know if this has been said yet because i cant be bothered reading thru every comment thats been posted so far but 3820 is to remain a static exhibit at the RTM, it has been heritage listed to stay as it was when it arrived at Thirlmere and will never steam again.

We have two working 38s; do we really, really need a third working one, when the money could better be directed to getting a different class of locomotive steaming? Say a representative of a class that is not in steam.

All 3820 needs is a detailing job, a la 6040. That is all the restoring that is really necessary for it Smile
