Well, 42101, 42209 and I took a wander around the NSWRTM yesterday, to see what we could see. For all of us, we hadn't been to the museum for a number of years. I was impressed with the amount of exhibits on display, to be sure, but it was a lot darker and dustier than I remembered as a child, making photography a little difficult.
I went in with no preconceived notions or expectations, and we were fortunate enough to get a tour around the workshops (where the museums operating fleet lives), and a walk along "rotten row" (the guides name, not ours) which was full of interesting history.
Attention all, this is not an exercise of endorsement or criticism of the NSWRTM. Please view the photos on their merits, and make up your own mind. I don't want to see people posting rubbish in here attacking the NSWRTM or it's volunteers.
Although I took some interesting photos of some of the things on "rotten row", along with some other exhibits in poor condition (they are still under restoration), I won't be posting those up here, as certain people will feel the need to use them as ammunition against the museum - which is silly as our guide freely admitted they were in less than desirable condition, and explained that this was due to a number of factors outside of the museums control.
Don't like this thread, don't read it, don't post in it. Anyone starts getting uppity, I'll remove the photos and ask the moderators respectfully to lock it.

Those photos were all taken in the shed of the museum. To try and keep loading times down, the photos of the operating equipment will be posted in slightly smaller size - feel free to click on them (right click and select "open in new window" or "open in new tab" to avoid navigating away from the thread) to open them up in a new window to see them at full size. You can do the same to the above photos to see even larger sizes, just click on "all sizes" at the top of the photo.

Cheers for the kind words FD, I'm glad you like the photos. As for making the effort, go down with a group or at least one or two other folks as it makes walking around so much more interesting when you're with mates who point out stuff you otherwise would have missed .
Now we need Anthony to share his photos

That was what we were told by our guide - they have an eye to running condition, but only after x other projects were completed first.

Great shots Trent
That shot of 3001 looks excellent, along with the shots of 4102 and 3526.
The site has certainly changed since I last visited, the whole "front row" was carriages except for 3820 the last time I went. (From memory)
