So far since it's arrived I don't think I've seen it out & abt once... Would make for a good car to use on the S'thern Aurora specials, due to it's on-board HEP sets to help power the cars.

Could also be used as a lounge withe the 3 BCS Lounge Cars...

Eg: PFZ (Guards compartm't for guard & staff, so no need for LAN staff car)-BCS-BCS-BCS-RMS-RMS-MBE-TBC-GMS 1.

Why wouldnt there be a use for the LAN? Staff and volunteers do sleep in it when its out on jobs.

Personally id rather sleep in a SLEEPING CAR than a SITTING car.

Well, they do already have 3 other power vans...why they needed the PFZ from Eveleigh is a mystery...!

Oi!

Lads, while I appreciate the kind words, I did not share these photos to spark another spat between some of the more vocal of you to have another biff over NSWRTM and 3801ltd.

If you can't stay to the topic, then just don't bloody post, please. If you want to keep fighting, I'll have to ask for this topic to be closed, and I'll think twice about sharing any more RTM or 3801ltd photos in future, seeing as you lot can't even look at a piece of rolling stock without looking for a scrap.

You know who you are, so don't try and fob off with "well, he started it". I don't care.

Get over it, I'm sick of reading this rubbish in every thread.

I know they have non-power van *MHN 2365 Bogie Brake Van with centre Guards compartment. Stainless steel body. Built for Southern Aurora services. Built by Commonwealth Engineering Granville September 1961.*
There is also the HN and VHO which I do not think are power vans either.

TE2815, They also have a second HN out the back, 2 EHOs, an SHO, HFT, HKL, HX, HC, HCX, HS, 2 HFOs, 3 HFAs and a HLF. All of these are equiped with a guards compartment and no generator set, so you see, there just balancing things out Laughing . BTW TE2815, you are right neither the VHO ot HN have a generator set inside.
Cheers, and Raichase, nice pics.

I know they have 2x PHA's as seen on the 2007 Tamworth Country Music Train, one at each end of the consist, providing power on an alternating basis.

But what's the third Power car the RTM has Question Not including the PFZ, which, as stated brings it too a total of 4 powercars in the RTM Fleet.

Would be nice to see the MHN returned to service, it would surely be of help to the RTM on long distance S'thern Aurora Services as firstly: excess baggage storage, & secondly: as a rolling workshop/crew car facility to go with the LAN Sleeper, marked as Car K for staff use, only thing is, it will require two slight modifications to the carbody ends, that is installing a inter-carraige communication doorway & diapham at each end in the ends of the van to enable through access then the train is in motion, currently it would not be accessable from the rest of the tain, while in motion, due to the blank ends of the carbody structure Exclamation Confused Wink

Of note, ARHS ACT has recently returned it's MHN to service for this exact purpose, eg Crew Car/On-board facilities storage & Excess baggage storage, they have I believe, also modifed the ends of the carbody structure, to incorporate a inter-carriage communication doorway & diapham at each end.

This aside it would help recreate the look of a full S'thern Aurora consist with a Power van at the front & brake van at the rear.

The VHO is used as a rolling workshop & crew car.
The HN is used as the guards station on tours using the N Set (HN/RFN/CN) & FS Cars (& their various varients of the FS Cars: EFS, HFS, Ect...)

I was actually looking for a PHN I thought they had when I found the MHN. I knew about all those other cars but as the discussion was about power vans I didn't mention them. I just wasn't sure if the VHO equipment car actually had a generator set too.

I thought there was a PHN. Now thinking the MHN and PHN are one in the same.

Interesting, I throught the only PHN in preservation & operational at that, was the one locaterd at ARHS ACT Question I must have been wrong then...

I know one PHN resides on the "SRA NSW Brake Down Train" along with a NAM & a LAN, stored out the back of Flamo Workshops in Ol' Syd. Town... Can be just seen stored up the headshunt thingy "out in the wilderness" (Theirs alot of over grown bushes around them) & a third PHN of course resides with GSR used as The Overdue's Power/Luggage van, the third MHN is meant to reside with GSR also, but too date I've never seen it once, including in the yards at KRPT ADL...

I take it the third PHA is non-serviceable Question
How many were built in total Question
Isn't their also 2 unserviceable ones based/located deep within the bowels of The LES also Question
