**ahem**

Welcome, honest newbie. May you stay here be an interesting one. Here's a list - not of rules - but of street smarts you'll find will come in useful about these parts. I'll start, and maybe some of the other regulars might like to add their bit.

1. You know that ROOLLY FUNNY flash animation and/or Youtube song about the London Underground? Yeah, that one. We've seen it already.

2. Be nice to 42101 and me. We're really quite sweet.

3. Feel free to post in the religious thread. Also, feel free to poke red hot needles into your eyeballs. The result is about the same. Leave the self flagellation to the experts.

4. No, you can't have a custom rank.

5. You know that ROOLLY FUNNY flash animation "Posting and You"? We've seen that one too.

6. There is NO Monty Python quoting in lists of rules.

7. We like trains too. Thanks for sharing.

8. Not withstanding No.7 above, we most of us also have lives. Ask and learn - you will find experts here in everything from Gilbert and Sullivan to military aviation. If you know about something, please share.

9. Don't post like this. It looks naff.

10. Or this.

Humphrey! We're leaving!

In my ~2.5 years on this site, I have learned...

15. There are NO females on the inter... no, wait...
If you are not sure of something, feel free to ask, once, in the right sub forum (handy hint - think about it before posting it ) and in a respectful manner.

16. We do NOT owe you anything, yet we will afford you the respect you earn from us and look forward to you coming to know and respect us with time as well.

17. There are exceptions for every rule, yet you are not expected to know, let alone try to execute such instances for at least 24 months...

18. Enjoy yourself, yet don't derive the majority of others of their enjoyment.

19. Tried searching for it in google first ? It would be a good idea...

20. A serious post will be treated accordingly, yet an effort towards punctuation, grammar and spelling will strongly enhance the prospect of a serious response.

May be young'n'dumb, yet unlike some, I've heart!

Erm .... there's a matter for you blokes who've posted above. Something that will disappoint you. Those people for which this thread is intended, ie: newbies, by their own ignorant nature won't be reading this thread. Really, you should've known the nonchalance of the newcomer by now !

Anyhow, we can sustain this thread for our own personal enjoyment. Looking at the opening post, Dawg there are two Rolling Eyes omissions from your list Rolling Eyes

The other is Postwanking

Applications for hunting licences are now open to those who seek to shoot down board users found to be seeking attention to their individual post count.

Really, honestly ... we don't need to know how many posts you've submitted, or how high you can p!ss. Much the same thing, really.

People who perform the taboo of even creating a thread for the sole purpose of announcing a 'milestone' post will not only risk being shot once, but multiple times. Following the bullets the culprits will finally be awarded an even more hideous punishment by being turned over to the Lions* for their evil pleasure.

21. Sock puppets are quickly identified and ridiculed. Be warned.

22. The RTM are a bunch of asreholes. So are 3801Ltd. We know. It's over.

23. Nobody cares which tangara carraige you travelled in this morning. Nor do we care how full it was, or whether someone looked at you funny.

24. There are rules for the Whereisit threads. I wouldn't read all 600 pages to find them either, so here's a summary:
24a) Only have one guess at a time. When you are told you are wrong, then you can have another go.
b) I believe standard procedure is to allow 48 hours after the correct answer is given for the winner to post another pic. Don't ask before that, and don't post saying "Can I post a pic in a week after I've gotten home/gone out and taken one/my computer is fixed"
c) Have SOMETHING in the picture that at least narrows it down a bit. That means more than a sleeper, or a rail, or a staunchion, or a pic from inside a train that does not show anything outside a window.

25. STNs and TAAs can be shown, but links to the STN website cannot (requirement of the STN website), and don't be a postwhore about it.

26. The STN website is a "dark site". Don't ask for a link, we can't give it to you. I believe googling it may be a different story though...

27. Stay out of anything involving the word "Dorrigo" Cool

Alright guys, this is only supposed to be a quick guide to the most important things here.

I'll lock this for the moment, and sift through it when I get the time Smile
