Wouldn't have a clue..but as a start, you may do well by visiting the Australian Train Movers web site. They may be able to help you with what you are after, and posssibly move it to where-ever you want.

You can even try a old Qld louvered van. I enquired using the details provided by another Qld female (not sure who now) member from RP. Price was a bit steep for my likeing as I just wanted a shed.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.  Aust. Train Movers have only 2 guard vans without windows and a bit needing doing (and one of these maybe ok) for $6000 plus $4000 to get it Qld.  Still trying to locate something that may not need windows replacing.  QR say there are no more decommissioned carriages and some are being restored by historical groups as you know.  Cheers, I'll keep trying!

There are some old wooden ones in Gladstone, if you are prepared to door knock and make an offer, who knows, especially the old prawn farm units which I think are not used anymore.

I suppose overall, you can oonly try all the railgroups for those who know where the various old pax cars are sitting and potentially would the owner sell one and then go on a drive.

Either way $5000 for haulage over about 500km is probably the going rate.

Wasn;t the proposed SG cars to replace the Inlander still in a paddock in FNQ somewhere?

Thanks Graham,

while on this, whats others views on this.

SEQ - Gympie South

Wide Bay/Fraser coast - Gympie coast to Bundy

CQ - Gladstone to Rocky/some say Mackay

NQ - Mackay to T'ville

FNQ - T'ville to Carins/cooktown

Cape - Cooktown nth

T'ville I thought could go either way, but I always treated it as FNQ. Open to correction so I use the correct term.

Townsville does not consider it FNQ-Cairns claims that

Townsville claims North Queensland Capital according to signs in town

General concensus up north seems that the dividing line is around Cardwell thus Ingam is North Queensland

and Innisfail Tully Cardwell Cairns Mossman and Cooktown considered FNQ

All the inland area is called The Tablelands and north of Cooktown called The Cape-only trains up there are at Weipa

West of the Tablelands is the Gulf and that includes Gulflander and the outer ends of the Savanahlander

There were two ALY's and one QLX (all minus wheels etc) at the Hassels site at Kabra this afternoon if that's any help.  Don't know what sort of $'s they want but all three have been there since some time last year.

Shocked WHAT!!!!!!  Bloody hell - I purchased two BGV's minus bogies for $500 each back in 1990 and the cost of two semi's plus crane and labour from Townsville South Yard to behind Mt. Louisa cost $1,000.

Rusty MALY for $900-$1200, you would have to be joking?????

There was a timber coach for sale in this Saturdays Townsville Bulletion, for $1000. Unfortunatally it was gone by 1000hrs. The seller said he had recieved 30 modd calls by the time i rang.

Keep an eye out in the Papers as this is how I got my TGVS van last year.

Also If you see one in someones back yard that it seems they rent using go and talk to them if it is possible. This is how I got a ALY last year as well for $500

Lyon where are you located? As I can ask arou nd on your behalf

Cheers

I've just joined up as we have a train carriage for sale located on the Boorowa/Cowra Rd in NSW.

It is a metal train in very good condition apart from some graffiti with a toilet and drivers engine room.  The seats have been removed.  Would be good for a granny flat or weekender renovation.

If anyone is interested please contact me to negotiate sale.  Removal and transportation would be at your cost.

Hi,I am looking for a train carriage to buy to use as a studio. I live in SEQ and have a budget but am open to all suggestions. I can also do some restoration work if necessary.

Does anyone know of any, or where else I should look?

Thanks,

Artyone.

I don't know where exactly the SG Inlander replacement cars are,but I am damn sure that between T/Ville and CT[LHS going west Flinders Hwy],

there is a railmotor [2200??]inside a fence made out of 44 gallon drums on their sides about 4 high.

Have driven past a heap of times and never taken photo Bang Head

Perhaps Johnmc or someone can confirm,or know about SG cars.

'Tis a while since I have been up that way but used to do work on weather instruments in the bush, and remember cars being stored on a couple of properties in that area.

After Woodstock on the Flinders Hwy where said Caltex was but no more, keep going west through Calcium, but about 1-2 km before the big Mobil servo, there is a road off to the left called, I think Dingo Creek Road or something like that ( have not got maps to check ), and further along that road is Webb Road (I think).  The cars I saw were somewhere in that area off to the left.

Also at Woodstock there is a turn off to the left back to Giru back on the main Bruce Highway which goes past Majors Creek and I think there maybe more cars stored through that area but am not really sure. Hope this helps...

Thanks for that
