Hi Phil,
If I said "my car won't start" where would you start to help me? You would not be able to help because I have given you no information on which to work.

You do the same to us - repeatedly.

You have been told before that your first port of call for help is the person/company that sold you Windows Media Centre Operating System. It is initially an Operating System problem. When you have had that checked by the people you bought the computer/operating system from, and they confirm that MSTS will run under that OS and that your computer and OS are fine, only then is it possibly (yes possibly) an MSTS problem. Remember, this is an MSTS forum, not a Windows - various operating systems - forum.

Help us to help you. We cannot see your computer, we do not know what you did in the last 5 minutes, or what you have installed earlier, we cannot see the error messages and if you do not tell us all these things we are unable to help. You have been told many times and ......???

Cheers

Phil,
A couple of other things - you told us you had a problem with Windows XP - indeed the header on this thread says it all. That information was incorrect. If you want us to respond other than sarcastically, give us correct information. Think before you 'Send' - "is this really correct, have I given all the information needed on which to base a knowledgeable reply?"

The second thing is that you referred to an OS upgrade. There are many, many horror stories about the results of upgrading from Win 98 to XP and XP to Vista. I am always very reluctant to become involved with a computer where the OS is an upgrade from the earlier version - there are too many things that go wrong. If you are using upgrades, then that may be part of your on-going problems. This adds even more emphasis to going to the person/company you get your computing gear from instead of the MSTS forum. Get your computer right and then maybe think about seeking assistance from this forum. Whilst I know that many people upgrade, I also know that using upgrades is a very reliable recipe for untold disasters!
Cheers

When I posted this thread I have to be honest with everyone I really wasn't sure what I was saying when a friend told me that MSTS wasn't working on his computer, as he told me that he has Windows XP Professional and the game installed on his computer fine but he couldn't play MSTS at all, I had to put everything that I was doing just to work out this problem because it seemed very strange to me I had to do afew new installations of Windows XP Home, Professional Editions but I found no probelms at all as MSTS works fine on both versions but I didn't think about Windows XP Media Center Edition I then installed Media Center Edition on my computer and after afew long nights of working out this problem I have now worked it out at last...

Believe it or not it was software called DVD43.

Here is abit of a tutorial I have made for people who have DVD43 installed on there computer and trying to run MSTS and it crashes after clicking MSTS 's icon to play...
1) Uninstall MSTS and restart your computer
2) Uninstall DVD43 and restart your computer "Please note that your computer will find new hardware DO NOT DO ANYTHING as Windows is repairing your CD/DVD rom drive and restart your computer 20 seconds after you see a message pop up saying YOUR NEW HARDWARE IS READY TO USE"
3) Reinstall MSTS and restart your computer "Please note to leave MSTS disk 2 in your cd/dvd rom drive when you have restart"
4) Run MSTS and it should work "as it works for me" and go into the options screen and turn on simple controls, turn on text, turn off shaddows and leave the rest on and click save...
5) And fter you have done all 4 steps here you can drive anything you want...

Please Note: If you have add-ons you wish to add to MSTS there won't be any problems but it must be installed in this order and then restart your computer:

Train Simulator Update
MSTS Bin
Basic Fixes
TS-Fast-Fix
and retsart your computer and now you can add everything else. If you don't have these for MSTS you can find them at Yuri's Steam4me site to download them, for any other add-ons please refer to the authors readme files...
http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsim/

I hope this little tutorial helps anyone that has problems like this using Windows XP Media Center Edition...

Reguards PhilC...

Thanks again to everyone who helped me to work out with what I was trying to say all your help was very greatful cheers guy's, now I can relax for abit and go back working on my route and building objects for it Very Happy
