07:45 Noarlunga to Adelaide was a 3-car poxbox this morning instead of the usual Jumbo service. Temporary change, I hope....?

Thanks for starting a new thread about it. Perhaps we need an observations thread like on ATDB

That's what I started the Jumbo updates thread (http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11337904.htm) for. I always intended for it to contain all Jumbo sighting in there.

I can inform you that since the introduction of the revamped Gawler timetable a couple of weeks back, TA have changed the railcar rosters significantly on the Noarlunga line.
As there still are changes from day to day, it remains to be seen if TA will have a permanent schedule of Jumbos on the NC line. For example, on Friday I had a Jumbo. Yesterday, same service, a 3000 paired with a 3100 Class.

Quite right...it is all over the place.
Usually when i get to brighton train station at 0625 there is a single car POX waiting in the middle to do the all stations to Adelaide, while a 2 car jumbo "overtakes" and does the express service to the city.
However, last friday, a 2-car jumbo was serving the all-staions one, and a 2-car pox on the express service. Doesn't make sense, as i imagine the jumbo getting in very late to Adelaide.

Afraid it makes perfect sense, TA don't have as many spare railcars as they did before the new Gawler line timetable.
When a train is really late arriving it gets swapped for another. With TAs current track it happens way too often.

Should be close to on time given the close spacing of stations in that section. I've seen car 2003 do that leg in 27 minutes. There are drivers at TA, who can keep up with the 3000 class timetables in a jumbo
