Late this arvo I see a truck struck the northern most Rail overpass on the East Tamer Highway. Had traffic diverted via Dalrymple road through Mt.Direction. Was interesting travelling with all the traffic on such a narrow road
Wonder how long before it's back in action???

I read in todays Advocate, looks to be out of action for a couple of days. The cause was a truck carrying an excavator, the excavator struck the bridge.
I wonder how much container traffic will head to other ports, like Burnie?

The road was reopened about 4:00PM this arvo and i heard that all rail freight is now to head to Burnie there's talk now of even sending the overseas container ship's to burnie.
I've heard many rumour's today about it mainly that the line will be closed for 6-8 week's, then it was to be closed for good, the road was to be closed for 4 day's but at least the public weren't held up too long.
I hear that 2 engines and a good sized rake of wagon's are stuck at Bell Bay too.

Hmmm, all freight railed to Burnie would be good, decent size trains again!.
Sending the overseas container ships to Burnie would good as well, hardly any ships come to the port these days.

For those who dont know, the overpass is being opened only to allow 53 to get out of BB, but the overpass is to be replaced as it is stuffed. One report mentioned up to 6 months to replace it?

I thought that was the case austrain. Still begs the question, will the normal freight to and from BB be now railed to Burnie?

Latest I've heard is that by early next week the line should be back running and in about 6 month's they will pull it down and replace the span with a new section

Just heard that today, the engineers are making repairs to allow trains to operate over it, hopefully to be open for normal operations by July 18.

Heard on scanner that after stowing whatever at Longreach they then ran at restricted speed to the 45 kilometre peg don't know what happened later as I turned scanner off. Locos were 2113 and 2111.

Saw what looked like a new steel rail bridge on a truck this morning, certainly was the correct length anyway.
And its not made out of a recycled 2101, stored in the load tank at ETJ.
