Hi guy's,

I have written a new command line to open and close doors within the .ENG file but I am having abit of a problem working out witch is the right text document to paste the new line within the text documents in the Global folder if anyone knows witch text file I should paste the new line command that would be great... Here is the new command line

.\n\n"+
"To Open And Close Doors\n"+
"1. Press O to open and close doors." - eng file

io_map ( O "Toggle_OpeningAndClosing_Doors" ALL_UP ) - You will find commands like this within the text files in the Global folder this is the part I need help with

Phil,

As I understand it you do not have to modify the eng file to enable opening doors.

Animated doors have to be created by animating them in your 3D model.

Pre MSTS pin you could use the ‘P’ key which would use the pantograph animation code in MSTS. For this you would have to rename your doors using the reserved names used for pantograph objects.

With MSTS Bin, door animations have been enabled using Ctrl + 7 (num pad) and Ctrl + 9 (num pad) keys. Once again you have to animate your door objects in the 3D modelling program and give them reserved names like DOOR_A, DOOR_B etc. More details on this are apparently included in the MSTS Bin Manual.

I can’t give you any specific information, as I haven’t modelled passenger cars with animated doors.

Do a google search for ‘msts door open’ and see how others got them working.

The following would be a good start and may help.

I addition to the above I found a TSM animation tutorial at train-sim.com in the download library. It is called dooranim.zip.

This tutorial covers door animation in TSM using the pre MSTS Bin pantograph method.

Once you get a handle on animation in TSM changing the part names for MSTS Bin version should be a no brainer.

Sorry about the late reply superheatedsteam I have been busy working on this part and other projects all at once, I found the tutorial at train-sim.com and it is cool how animated doors work, the reason why I sugested that I create a new command using the O key is so I can have the pantograph and the doors working at the same time but if I have to use the P key then it would be much easier to animate I will keep working on this and if I get it working with the O key I will make a post here and afew files people can download. Thanks superheatedsteam for your reply

Regards Phil

Phil, many people around the world have tried this without success. If you get it working, you'll be achieving something long sught-after but never done.
