cheers | I don't often believe rumours, but in this case, I do. Mark Rowstrom (sp?) sent out an email to everybody by mistake and got the helpdesk to "recall" it. I don't remember too much about its' content, but it did talk about different business stratigies along the lines of the above. There's also been a half-dozen or so middle managers get the bullet up here this week. They were simply told they're now redundant, pack your things.
But if they really want to save money, listen to the crews. We whinge and complain about operational inefficiencies all day. We're the ones that have to do the hard yards to cover the mistakes of those we report to. And make people accountable for their mistakes.

Knee jerk reactions like this do nothing except save a few dollars in wages, meanwhile the workers see their bosses getting the boot and morale reaches new lows. I'd expect to see a 'raft of new initiatives' soon along with cost cutting measures to improve the 'bottom line'. Wagon scrapping should recommence soon too.
KR when does management ever listen to the peasants? They're now all in damage control covering their rears waiting for the next blood letting.
And if I were you I'd be contacting my stockbroker monday morning too.
Not sure if there is any truth to the rumor but after the first half results showed Portlink to be a poor performer it was said that Asciano are looking to get rid of it.
Mate, if that loco pulls as hard as you do, it'd move anything.
I'd still rather have an ALCo.

Nutbag, will you be buying or selling on Monday? | If you think its a good buy go ahead, if you think transport stocks are a bad buy because of oil prices sell up or don't buy. I'm not here to provide you with investment advice only my opinion.
Disclamer: I do not own any AIO stock, nor intend too. There have I made it clear now?

None, mate, my conscience forbids me to get involved with anything with a Toll history. Besides, if Bill Gibbins found out I had Asciano shares, he'd smash me!

As nutbagg says, it's a different company but you can never tell, I guess.

Tell Bill you're trying to get a majority shareholding so you can kick Rowsthorn out and put him in charge of PN.
Seriously, I wonder how Bill would go heading up a rail company...
