Curious question - how effective is the 'reverse angle' on the front windscreens at cutting down glare (assuming that's why they were made in such a fashion)?

I reckon it's pretty good as compared to the 48'ers and 81's. I've noticed the 92's won't have it though so there'll be a definite comparison available soon...
One thing about the windscreens angled that way though, is when the engine management computer decides it wants to display a page of info, you get the reflection from that, though it's not that big a deal...

Can't comment on what an 82 is like for glare during the day, only been on one once and that was at night, and i can say they aren't the best when it comes to trying to see out at night when the cab light is on. Not that were scared of the dark and travel with the light on, but when it is on for whatever reason i found the reflection a bit annoying.
NR's and you'd guess the 92's are an each way bet, you can easily see out at night with cab lights on if your mate is eating, reading or whatever, and you can get the blinds down a long way before vision is impaired and glare becomes a problem during the day. That said most glare comes off the shiny plastic console rather then directly in and there are trial coatings on a couple of NR's to over come this i believe. On our branchline up here where surveyors were paid by the curve, the problem is generally short lived in my experience on the few daywork jobs our depot has, one minute your heading right into it, next thing your back is turned.

The only 82 classes fitted with fuelMiser's are Southern Coals fleet. Their system is a lot better then the system on the 90 classes, it gives you a couple more options plus you can monitor few more engine components.

The way you can tell your shot is a 90 class, Brake cylinder pressure is 500kpa , third round gauge from the left (82's are 350kpa) plus the fuelMiser screen, not on Northern Coals fleet of 82s.

Also the marker light switches there are for only two on 82 cl
