Photo of the day: The crew confer details at the long-forgotten locality of Watamondara, between Cowra and Koorawatha
Hi all
Last week I was aboard a private charter which travelled from Cowra to Yass Junction, and overnighted there before returning to Cowra the following morning. The train comprised of two 47's (4716/4701), two FS carriages, the timber EAM sleeper car, ABS dining car and the MHG brakevan. Crew was 7, two drivers (Alternating between days), the observer, the guard, passenger attendant/buffet supervisor, two fitters, and a cameo appearence by the Railway Digest editor at Yass to facilitate Dinner preperations.
The following are my photos.

(Before anyone asks, these two had just walked through the yard at Yass to get a few items, and still had their vests on!)

Crew and passengers had a fantastic weekend, with plenty of smiles when we returned to Cowra depot. With this successful outing, we hope this may open up future overnight 'Mail train charters. I'll leave it up to the charterers for their photos/comments.
Enjoy!
Cheers

Bloody oath, those shots are fantastic! I've not seen such good photos of two 47 class in my life, I don't think. Glad to hear the crew and the punters had a good time, and you got some great shots from it too!
Bravo, Maikha!

I like the masking tape numbering on 4701
Correct authority was obtained for all photographs in rail corridor and depots. note that some are taken from the cab.

Dilapidated, rundown country railway stations - these sort of photos make me sad.
One can instantly smell the steam, feel the atmosphere and hear the noises of a cold winter's morning .....

Thanks Maikha! Like steam3801 said its interesting but sad to see the stations abandoned. I'm glad I did see them staffed and in use, day and night, decades ago.

Some nice pics there Maikha.
Just a rivetcounting question here on this pic:

Hi All,
Aww Bwana, does Maikha have to be holding his camera to claim copyright? It's obvious that someone else took the pic, great shots Maikha, I like the pics taken away from the train. It makes me sad to see places like Demondrille and Binalong look so bad but I am happy to see that places like Bowing are being used for "other" things with clotheslines and washing out drying. I'd love to get a station like Binalong and live in it, I reckon that it would be the ultimate for a self confessed train nut.

The rivetcounter in me says...
Copyright (within Australia) is held by the person who took the pic, unless there was an agreement between the photographer and a second party to the extent that the copyright would be held by that second party.
The non-rivetcounting part of me, of course, agrees with TLGM - Clearly this photo was taken for Maikha's benefit (as well, possibly, as for the benefit of the group he was with), and in a that setting it doesn't matter, but then in that setting you wouldn't bother marking your pics with a copyright at all, would you?
BTW for anyone new to the world of copyright, in Australia you don't need to mark something as copyright, you automatically have copyright the instant you open the shutter. There's nothing wrong with reminding viewers of that though, and overseas rules are different so it may be handy if you imagine your pic may have an international audience.
