I thought Easyjet was a low cost airline so I'm surprised that they would be buying a large such as the A380, although I suppose you would have the issue of Peak Oil.

Bring the 3900s back to Brisbane
Bring Karlsruhe Tramtrains to Australian cities
Extend the proposed Metro to Taylor Square
Extend the Gold Coast line to the Tweed

Interesting... I wonder what Qantas think of all this.

I'll look forward to the next Australian Aviation Express with great interest!

Those photos are very convincing... I wish I could photoshop like that!

Qantas' first A380 should be in Australia in a few months and is due to fly to LA from Melbourne in November. Launching on the Sydney - LA route soon after.

They're taking the 747-300s out of service... some currently do Melbourne/Sydney to Perth flights - perhaps some 747-400s will be redeployed to that.

Qantas must be the only airline in the world running 747s on domestic routes... the only other nation I can think of where it might also happen is Japan and the US - but I dont think many of the US airlines fly Jumbos any more... maybe just North West and United.

See -

http://www.qantas.com.au/regions/dyn/au/publicaffairs/details?ArticleID=2008/jul08/3779

"13 out of 48 weekly return Perth-Melbourne services would be operated by the new aircraft. A further 10 return services each week would be upgraded from B737-400 to B767-300 aircraft. The new A330-200 aircraft will be dedicated to Perth services and will enable us to offer our West Australian customers greater reliability when travelling to the east coast. "

"Qantas will also gradually retire its older B747-300 aircraft from the Perth-Sydney route from September this year and replace them with Airbus A330-200 aircraft."

Did Qantas use 747s on the Sydney-Melbourne run back in the 1990s?
