Hendo,
Some people here are in the know. Under comercial in confidence people can not say certin things, yes, we all know who would be interested, we all have our opinions as to who will get it. If you read the buisness news you will see the whispers, some of us choose to not say what is in them as we might know more to the story.
All I can say is the banks meet Monday. They will look at all the offers and accept the one or ones that are in their best intrests. Some of us know who the front runners are, but under the C-I-C, leagally can not say anything. Who knows, the banks might not go with who thoes in the know know as the front runners.
Soon, all will be revealed.

Yes, you are right, Shacks.
Return on investment is the bottom line for banks, and then CYA with regard to oustanding monies owing from their assets.

Wow Shacks,
Hhahahah, you guys crack me up! So you are inside the loop? Privy to Commercial-In-Confidence infomation and not just another gunzel! With such knowledge, what are you doing living and "working" in Darwin and spending time posting here, instead of living in Melbourne, Sydney, New York or London using your business contacts? We shall have to report you to the ASIC. Can't have you trying to get a trade advantage out of your insider knowledge!
cheers,
Hendo

Hendo, do you have any idea who Shacks is and who else he knows? If not, shut up.
Follow my excellent example - just keep watching this thread patiently until there is an announcement. Then, if you really must have a go at Shacks, ask him whether he was right or wrong. But until then, go take a walk around the block.
Happy Gunzelling and remember, "Go by rail!"

You hear a few rumors thrown around Berrimah and that's it? Moderator or not you're a tosser acting like this. If you know so much which group is BBI in with?
Mate, if that loco pulls as hard as you do, it'd move anything.
I'd still rather have an ALCo.

Jesus, we are a "I want to know" bunch.
Leagally I am not able to say who the new owner is, that is because I do not know who the new owner is, the banks have not decided and they will not be telling me before they tell you. I very much doubt they will be calling me to make the announcement on their behalf.
I have sent messages to other people who have heard from different sources and we have the same answers, they too are not in the position to make an announcement.
As for the whispers, read the business papers, each company who have submitted a bid has put their views out there into the media. It is not hard to find out who has bidded.
Some people have made a list of who they think will get it and posted it. I am not going to sayhow accurate they are.
Have you ever thought that the information I know could be totally wrong ?
Maybe I don't want you getting your hopes up that will win.
In time you will have your answers, so will I.

Well logic would dictate they would be in with whatever vehicle QR is using for their bid, given that together they have what appears to be a reasonable working relationship in the West.
However in true 1984 fashion it could be anyone. Yesterday's enemy is today's friend and vice versa?
And BBI are hardly standing on solid ground at the moment.

In time you will have your answers, so will I. | Yes good one. Who is BBI with? Its not QR from what I've heard but then there is almost no information in the public as to who is bidding other than a few spin articles about Toll/ Scott's and QR. It's all very closed shop if you ask me.
Run with rumors, what locos could be appearing on Freightlink trains soon?
Mate, if that loco pulls as hard as you do, it'd move anything.
I'd still rather have an ALCo.

.... and if you read further you will see various reasons why SCT will need their G's back in September. They are expecting an increase in cargo to the west in the lead up to Christmas.

I take it that you are implying that SCT are going to buy Freightlink according to your sources; as the sale is supposed to be finalised in September.

Down to a two-horse race:
1. GWA
2. Asciano/Macquarie
SCT no longer in the running.
Were BBI ever in there? Current rumour is that they have 100% (not 50% as reported elsewhere) of their share of WestNet on the market.
