However, there is a community service obligation that requires V/Line to provide services to Victoria's regions.

Dalywaters, that is because vline is a regional service provider, Idiot!| Quote: |
As for both airports, there should be no community service obligation
|
Why Not! Its the communities of people that travel to airports.
Dalywaters i,m not going to let you play with a gun because you will have no feet to stand on after 30 seconds. Its people who think like you that are in government and dont get things done. fart about, form subcommitees to look into it. All major infrastructure should be linked in one way or another to make it easyer to get around SO WHAT if it is taxpayer funded you basically pay the same amount of taxes each year so why are you carrying on!

It is easyier for people to fly around australia than its is to get to an airport in melb if you havent got a car ! smeghead ! |
The idea of a debate is to present fact and evidence to support your own view. Throwing insults and spamming that you're right defeats the entire point of a debate.
There is no need for an Avalon rail link. There is no enough flights in and out to support it. And the buses already do a good job servicing it. 20$ one way, 36$ return isn't that expensive if you think about it (this being from Southern Cross, not sure about geelong) And Sunbus and Jetstar are linked. As long as your on the bus that meets your flight no matter what happens to that bus you will make your flight because they will hold it. There are knock on effects for other flights but that aside.
I doubt you would get dedicated train services to Avalon, so that promise could not continue with the trains. Avalon does not need a rail link yet. If they were going to build an Tulla airport line, then i would hope it would have stations through the suburbs it travels to help justify building the line.
Plus what is the point of building a line through suburbs that have very little transport and telling them they can't use it?

How my idea of extending the current 12 bus service to Geelong airport and same time applying minimum standards to it.
Number 12 route Geelong via Lara to Geelong airport.

Why would you extend a suburban bus?

It cheap and easy to do, even staff at DOT can’t stuff this project up.
But I could be wrong!

When people resort to insults, they lose the debate.
I hope a mod can respond appropriately.

How would that offer reliability (incredibly important for an air service) and capacity?

At the moment there are no capacity problems on the bus at the moment.
By extending the bus service it would allow for the state government a cheap choice of running a rail-bus service from Lara Railway station to Greater city of Geelong major airport.
Benefits are the following:
• Cheap to run
• Upgrade service for people in Lara and upgrade service for people that use service
• Bus link to Geelong Airport from Lara station
If the state government did follow my plan, people will start to use the V/Line service to travel to Lara, so they can connect up with the new rail bus service which will go to the Airport.
Note the bus route can be redesign by allowing the bus to travel from Lara station to Airport via the following streets: Mc Clelland ave - Princess Freeway - Beach road
Note this airport will get bigger in the near future because it cheaper to run Airplane Company out of Geelong Airport compared to running a service out of Melbourne major airport.
At the same time the state government should reserved the land so it can be used later on for a future rail link from Lara.

No, they won't. I don't see hordes of people wanting to go to Tulla airport going to Broady on a spark and switching to a route 478(?) bus, in fact I doubt there is ANY, so what makes you so sure people will do it at Avalon? If anything, Avalon will be linked with a Skybus service, and 724695286 taxis. Besides, the Benders trackbuses on route 12 hardly have space for all that luggage...

The Broadmeadows -- Tullamarine Airport bus is route 500. It is a better option if the frequency matches that of trains.
