This thread is contributing to the unfounded belief that PT is unsafe and should be locked

Settle down Knowitall, we're not living in communist China!

No one is being defamed or abused, so why not let the conversation continue, it is quite a valid concern that many people have.

People like you have dangerous attitudes that are a threat to democracy.

Well I have been traveling around on the trains at all hours of the day and night often including the last train to Dandenong and I haven't been raped, stabbed and hacked to pieces once.

The only 'violence' I ever saw was two kids on a peak hour train doing a bit of shoving - which everyone else stomped on pretty quickly.

I'd much prefer to be on the train at 24:00 then in a taxi queue at 01:00.

In reality PT is safer than car at night. How many car accident at night compared to stabbing on train?

Incorrect. There are 33 posts in this thread so far, and at a glance, it's a balanced discussion. Most of the "too dangerous" posters are being asked to "prove it", and while the discussion is vigorous, none of it is personal. So at this point, no Locky for you. Sad

And that's just as bad. If having an unpopular view makes you a communist, well... ni hao, comrade.

Play on. Smile

He is quite entitled to his view, but on the other hand, everyone else is also entitled to express their views too, as long as they are not offensive or derogartory.

Just because he doesn't agree with what is being said, doesn't mean he has the right to ask for it to be censored or to ask people to stop talking on the subject!!

I find your remarks quite rediculous to say the least johnmc...........we do live in a democracy, which people fought to have.

I think sometimes some people get carried away with their own self importance!

So you are simply restating Johnmc's point of view Exclamation

I don't think you have done any clear thinking here. He can make whatever observations he likes ...

He does have the right to free speech, and he has the right to expose his narrowmindedness, he has the right to make a fool out of himself, he has the right to make totally unfounded statements, and he has the right to say what he thinks should happen, so long as he stays within the terms of service of Railpage Australia™ and the rules for posting ...

In fact, he has made an indefensible statement. His statement is pure belief and speculation, no facts ...

I cannot see where Johnmc has been ridiculous ...

- he has provided a thread post count and analysis

Johnmc wrote:

This is simply statement of fact. Nothing ridiculous there ...

Johnmc wrote:

Well, that is a fair analysis - has a grasp of the topic, the direction of the discussion and the various assertions and requests for proof ... perhaps challenges, as it is a vigorous discussion. But it is within the rules for posting, so its all OK.

Yes, and while there is a democracy, most people back home had no idea of the ugliness of war, the costs of conflict and the utter futility of death on a massive scale.

Your appeal to democracy is a fallacy. That is to say, it is a fallacious claim. Knowitall is living up to his monniker and saying what he (or she) wants to say. He can say that provided he is within the terms of service. Nothing wrong with that.

YOU on the other hand, have said that Johnmc is being ridiculous and you have not sufficiently shown where, why or how he is being ridiculous. So there. Ante up or keep quiet

loco2301 wrote:

That's a swipe at Johnmc, somewhat ineffectually based on your own fallacious argument (appeal to democracy which was wrought with blood) that nobody has the right to say no one should talk about something. You are having a swipe at Johnmc for allowing the conversation to proceed when you think it shouldn't.

So what exactly is it you want to say?

Until this site gets federal, state or local government funding, that's kind of a non argument.

Interesting back a few pages ago mention of Flinders St; 'twas run by ferals about 2-3 years ago. Funnily enough it seems fine now. The cop shop being a lot more proactive in moving ferals along has helped.

I will make one FINAL comment on this, as I do not want to be drawn into a slanging match.

He has every right to make an opinion or pass judgement, but everyone else also has the right to pass an opinion.

By the statement that knowitall has made, it can be interpreted as he is objecting to other people from simply voicing their opinion, and was asking to stop this from happening by requesting the thread to be LOCKED!

I was simply stating that in a democratic country such as Australia, that everyone has a right to voice their opinion, even him. I was just voicing an opinion that his request was unreasonable.

He is quite entitled to request this thread to be locked, but I believe I am also equally entitled to defend my right to voice an opinion along with everyone else here, as long as it is fair and reasonable.

I believe everyone is entitled to disagree, and that is what I simply did........is that not right in Australia?

If people don't defend their right to free speech, what is the alternative to democracy???, dictatorship and communism.

Oh coolness! So you won't mind terribly if I voice my own opinion that you are an idiot?

TLD™, you can call me what you want, I don't even know you so I am hardly going to lose any sleep.

It just typifies what type of person you are when you have to resort to abusing people to make yourself look clever and witty.

He is not abusing you. He has formed an opinion about you from what you have written. He just stated his opinion. In fact he asked you if you would mind if he stated his opinion.... You could have replied with a YES or a NO.

Now then. Whether you lose any sleep or not is *not* the issue. The issue, loco2301 is that you have actually imputed that he is abusive, and does so in order to look clever and witty. What is your evidence for this assertion?

There is no evidence that he has abused you. Show me where TheLoadedDog™ has abused you. That would help.

BTW, you never got back to us with a reply

Melbourne is becoming more violent?
Has Melbourne always had a level of Violence?
PT is not very violent but gangs will harass the Gentle, Foreign or Female looking for a Violent/Sexual Confrontation.
Australia has a strange form of identity, very Mancho, slightly gay.
Just look at the Fluoro influence from the Transport Industry.
I feel it’s the pot calling the kettle black on this Mancho thread.

More I look at luznug's posts, the more I think he's less like some foamer that's more crazy than a hat full of sardines and more like a bloke who's making up some lunacy for the sole purpose of trolling for reactions.
