The following are my photos of C501 at Seymour depot prior to it's trial run on the 13th July 2008.

Enjoy!

C501 is a great loco to drive!!!!!,( but I'm sure others will have a different point of view......) when we had it at ATN it did it's job very well and I look forward to having a drive of it on the El Zorro train, all round an awesome locomotive.

For your info EnglishElectric the view out of the cab when driving it is quite good even with the nose and the supertyfon's hanging off it, my photo's from driving it and others can be found at www.emdc501s.fotopic.net

Cheers.

Cheers for that C504, what's 501 like compared to an L class? Looks like the L class is a bit more boxed in from the photos which are, by the way, very good. If only someone would bring a C class west again.... Twisted Evil

Are the other 9 "C"class members all running again ?
Have they all been returned back to their original numbers C502 -C510 ?
or are some still In CS# numbering.

I prefer the C's myself.

Much better visibility, heaps more space in the cab, Supertyfons, what more could a bloke want?!

Cheers

I got to drive C501 on a few local jobs when I worked for PN. Its a great loco. I also had it as a banker throught the hills a few times. Just remember it blowing thick black smoke like an ALCO every time when coming out of a tunnel in Notch 8 crawling up the hills.

Cheers,

Greg and 'lastname, thanks for the feedback!

I have to be honest, I never touched the controls at all while I was in the cab. Was merely there to observe the procedures in starting up the beast, but nonetheless that was a good experience.

Yes the old L's are a bit more cramped than the C's with the number two control stand having a fair bit to do with it, plus visability out of the front windscreen is greatly reduced also due to it's nose, but still a great "old" loco.

It use to be great bringing three of them back up "the hill" from Inner Harbour to Moss Vale then points further south, you could not believe the sound they made!

Cheers.

Cs5 is the last one numbered as a Cs although yesterday it started its journey west to Islington for its overhaul.
C509 & C510 (Cs3 & Cs4) are currently still overhaul at Islington

C502-505, C507, C508 are all in traffic either in NSW or SA
