Too bad, so sad...

Nothing a mere brat like oneself could ever do to make a positive contribution, so might as well just give up and go back to living up to the labels beset upon me by the G.I, Silent, Boomers and X generations!

May be young'n'dumb, yet unlike some, I've heart!

The non-streamlined 38ers looked better than the streamliners, IMHO. I like 3830's shade of green too, come to think of it.

Permitting what to exsist? Sorry, I am one of those time poor people, y'know? Like most people in todays society.. I find if I want to read a novel I will go somewhere like say, Angus and Robertson...

Did you get that as an email, with "Forward this to all your friends so that microsoft will send 2c to child protection groups" written at the end? Or maybe "Do you care about kids like Dan? If you do, forward it to everyone on your email list. If you don't, then clearly you just don't care".

Seriously, if this story is true it is exceedingly sad. I'm not gonna take the rap though, I'd be hard pressed to lay it on the next door neighbours even - one or two saw a kid in the window ONCE. They don't know what the place is like inside, they also don't know how long the kid was there, she may have been visiting. Nobody spends 24/7 looking at the house next door.

If you can help your fellow humans, do it. If you see something dodgy, report it. But accept that you can't change the world single handedly.

And I reckon 3830 would look good in royal blue. Was it ever blue in service? Don't know, don't care. I just think it would look nice.

My choice for a new colour for 3830 would be dark Pearl Red, would be awesome!

that's an amazing story, doridori... so sad that there's people messed up enough to let that happen, i wouldn't treat an animal like that, let alone a human being.

Dori: Good intentions, but we know where that road usually leads.

The story has obviously moved you, but you shot yourself in the foot with the delivery. Just because it's moved you, just because it's about something horrible and terrible, doesn't mean that everyone will follow you. And a 100-something line direct quotation won't achieve that. You would have been better off with the photo first (assuming this is a photo of the actual child in question? If not, then *don't* use it), a paragraph or two, and then the link.

No matter how sad the story, people *will* switch off when faced with such a large post.

Now. You've set the bar for yourself, I have some questions. You don't have to answer them. (In fact, I would prefer you kept the answers to yourself.)

You read this article. What are you going to do about it?

Are you actually going to make changes, or are you going to say "that's so sad, I hate myself" and go on with your life?

And if you do make changes, do you think they'll still be in place after a month?

Six months?

A year?

Freightlink orange would be a nice change for 3830, but the aircon on the roof may detract from the look of the old girl. Wink

Haven't you read any of my rants about how the Left has somehow assumed the moral high ground for itself? Wink

What if she wasn't so helpless and pretty in the photo?

What about a kid from Eritrea with malaria and a face covered in flies?

I wonder hoe helpless one really is when in a bubble bath?

So Dori, what sort of stuff do you do? While we're at it, how would you have suggested the situation you quoted be prevented?

Be fair. Given the quality of the opposition it hasn't been that difficult to achieve.

Come over to the Dark Side Luke. You know it makes sense?

don't you think there's just a remote possibility that the photo was taken AFTER she was rescued from that deplorable situation? Rolling Eyes
