Was out at Burwood last week and was told that there is a school starting every 2 weeks. Will be interesting to see where they get all the extra driver trainers from.

My friend received an email today advising him he has progressed to the next round, and has to fill out forms for the criminal check, and complete a medical.

Then while we were playing Super Smash Brothers on the Wii, he got a call from HFI booking in his medical for mid August.

Keeping everyone in the loop!

Good stuff. My mate is in much the same boat (train). He spoke to HR and (as we know) they said applicants are basically going though in "batches". The group session results and references results get reviewed together by a panel to determine if the applicant proceeds to the next stage or not. His batch is going thru next Tue (5 Aug) so he should hear very shortly after Tues where he is at. When HR get a definite answer on the status of an aplicant from the Panel they do try and advise the good or bad news ASAP. If you don't hear it's because your application is still in the mix waiting for the next step. As sniper bob writes if group session and references are good then it's onto the next stage which is medical and criminal check... and if you get past those two items then it's job offer time. A point of interest (?) if you get knocked out at the group session/references stage it might be best to review your referees cause *generally* they only check referees if you have done satisfactorily at the group session, so logically if they knock you out after that stage it could be because your referees weren't satisfactory? Whilst it might seem logical some people don't check with their own referees to make sure they are gunna give them a wrap if contacted. Hope this all helps. My mate is anxiously awaiting Tue results. Smile

Well I got the letter of doom on Thurs. 31 Aug. for the CLK Syd. Based PSA's position that closed on Fri. 18/07, In this instance you have not met the required standard in the Job Related Testing that you completed 23 Feb. 2008. As a result your application can not be progressed for this position.

I was lucky in a way, I didn't have to trek up to Syd. from the Vic'n Sth West Coast for nothing this time round, it saved me a return airfare, so I surpose it was a bonus in a way... Now I just have to wait till Feb. 24. 2009 before I can apply for anything that uses the same tests again...

Hi guys
Found this very informative website through google. I went through the driver recruitment process and so far so good ( fingers crossed). I got through the first two stages and Cityrail has now rung up one of my referees. So things are looking good. As I look at it, after referees report should be medicals and placements.
No that I want to jump the gun here, but where can I can get info on the medicals. I have never gone through one of them medicals before so am a bit worried !!

cheers

Another batch of applicants have progressed to the medical and criminal check stage and my mate is amongst them !!!! For those unaware there have been over 2,000 applicants in this recruitment campaign so you can understand why things are moving slowly and in batches. So if you are not at the same stage as others it might just mean your group is still progressing. For what it’s worth this is what you can expect if you pass the medical and criminal check.... so with all care but no authority....

You get a job offer and effectively you are now on a list of successful applicants. From that list they take the first 12 people and form a class of trainees. Not sure when the first class is actually going to start but when they do classes of 12 will be called every month thereafter until all done. So if you are number 48 on the appointment list it could still feasibly take 4 months before they call you to start your class. Of interest, if for some reason you can’t start the class when offered you can defer your offer until the next class if preferred. They will offer your spot to the next person and if they accept you sit in their spot and get offered that spot next month. Can't imagine many would defer their offer after such a long recruitment process?

Hope this helps, good luck to all still in the race.

My medicals are on in about 2 weeks from now. As far as this goes, I may be in the last carriage of the recruitment train Laughing Laughing

Good luck with them. Remember that you probably need to get the blood tests done at least 3 days beforehand so the results have arrived in time for the main part of the medical assessment.

It took about three months. I heard nothing for while (so you dont find out how you went in the medical only what they tell you at the time) and about a week and a half before I was to start I got the letter to confirm that I was starting. I did get a phone call before hand (about two and a half weeks before) but with the railways you need to get it in writing.

Also with the medical you may need to empty out your pockets etc so dont take much with you when you are doing the drug test. This depends on who you get.

I hope that this answers your question.
