I noticed tonight the railway overpass/bridge span at Bridge & Samuel st Licombe is being replace with a concrete span.
Location for this is the Bridge that connects from Berala-Auburn.

Might see track speed lifted a little, within the limitations of the turnouts at either end.

Never travelled over that particular leg of the triangle, but if the old bridge had simple wood transoms and this one is a ballasted deck, it should allow slightly higher speeds. Although this is useless if you have X25's at either end...

indeed, I think they were more worried about the old bridge falling down than track speed!

Not getting picky but you wont see an increase of track speed as it still has a Radius of 165m and your train is wrapped around a less than 90 degree curve (from West to South).
The new bridge deck is actually a "slab type", much more stable and quiet.

Done it on an 8 car S set and a 620/720 - both on regular Cityrail services. The railways were far more interesting in the 80s and 90s...

I am SO moving to Victoria Street!!

I regularly used it to go to work when there was a U-set from Springwood to Regents Park each morning. Also stopped at Clyburn and continued on for railway workers only.
