Ok, looked at a late 19th century suburban map to find out what actually was suburban back then. I have 2 more possible suggestions. First I'll chuck Somerton.

Summary thus far:

Clues:

For three points:
At least one E class steam loco had its coal bunker enlarged for the specific reason to run to <station>. Extra points for which E class.

To assist this one along, E classes at the time would have been based at either North Melbourne or Port Melbourne depots.

Two points:
This addition seemed to be added despite the station that is named justifying the alterations to occur being well-equipped for maintaining steam locomotives at the time the alterations were done.

Two E's in fact had the modification for running to <station> - both were converted to EE's, but not E371/E496.

Think about it. An E class wouldn't have ventured too far from the City; but needed extra coal - why would a small steam loco use extra coal?

Grades - and I'm looking for the ... terminus.

Thanks merlin, but Camberwell wasn't the station named.

One point - is it even counted?

E classes bases at North or Port Melbourne Loco Depots had a 4" 'hungry board' extension to their bunkers to work trains to <station>. This addition was made despite <station> being well-equipped for maintaining steam locomotives at the time the alterations were done.
At least two E's, possibly more had the alterations done, this would have probably been due to the grades on the line to <station>, which was an intermediate terminus on the line in which it was located on.
