A Set #22 getting some serious work done on it at Claisebrook. No windows, no seating, no external paint.

Yep she is in for a refit Smile Just went and had a look as I am working shed today.

What work will the re-fit involve? Apart from new interior fittings and orange desto's.

Is the seating being rearranged from the horrible side bench set up?

Hi,

The first train in the morning from Fremantle yesterday (Monday) broke down at Cottesloe, my wife was on the train and said that it seemed to loose all power. The passengers were de-trained onto the platform and they waited for the next train to push it with the passengers boarding the second train. She was a bit vague about what happened to it after that as she did not notice it still attached when she got off at her stop.

Anyone know what was going on? She also said this morning there was another breakdown early but she was on a later train.

Cheers

Alan.

Thank you for the update on Set 22. I hope the longitudinal seating program at Claisebrook is in full swing.. it certainly is the best way to travel on public transport.

But then you get all those strange people that stare at you!!! Especially on the Armadale Line.

Not happy bout set 22 Evil or Very Mad! I was hoping and though it would have been given a flash new livery on the exterior. I really like the white coupler guards!!! and it would look better if they then painted the cowcatcher red!

I agree Avonlink, the cowcatcher upgrades are well overdue especially with the recent cow incidents on the Fremantle line.

The white coupler guards make them more up to date looking whereas the grey seems very "Fastrak" 1990's. The red band at the front too should go i reckon!

Found a picture from PTAWA's fotopics (Set 16 at Midland) and whited out the red front band and it looks a bit odd but with a black Transperth Logo i reckon it would look great!

I really ought to be a bit more observant about times and such (set numbers are a bit hard because I can't see them), but at approx 10:45 yesterday the announcement was made that the Mandurah-Perth service was cancelled with the train running express past Cockburn Central due to mechanical failure.

Yes, I rode this on the evening commute yesterday... Not really sure that is such a good idea given that the B's are covering long distances, making more people stand for that long is not very nice.

Right now, with railcars still in short supply (until the others arrive) I wish they'd concentrate on maintenance rather than upgrades.

Set 22 is still currently in the 1 DMU at Claisebrook having all the work done. I took a couple of pics today and I will try and upload later tonight.

22 is almost stripped to the bone in the saloon area at the moment, as you will see by the pic's. Drivers cab is the same with all the wiring going on.

Yes DA1578 The longitudinal seating is the preferred arrangement to allow for more passengers.

[ADDED 26/09/2008]

Set #22 is progressing well Smile Seats(longitudinal) are in, the RAPID system and electrics are being tested and she has been painted up on the front and rear.

Well, I guess it makes things easier in terms of getting on the train initially.

It's a lot more difficult dozing off when you are sat perpendicular to the direction of travel.
