There is an article on the 3800 Class (PP 1-2, 8-9) in the August 2008 Issue of QRNational Coal's Loaded.
Asset Management General Manager Vic Stevens travelled to Germany with Jilalan Driver Keith Heinemann and Callemondah Driver Tony Smith to inspect the new cabs and incorporate the Driver's feedback. They described the Siemens Factory at Allach as "incredibly big." Whilst in Germany, Vic, Keith and Tony also travelled on the Siemens Velaro (Deutsche Bahn InterCity Express) at 330km/h and described it as brilliant.
Having toured the Siemens Factory and travelled in the cab of an ICE at high speed myself, I can say they're both right on the money. Europe is quite impressive! If only Australia was the same!
"The performance of the 3800 Class is slightly higher than the 3700 Class. This performance improvement guarantees the 'three-for-five' Locomotive replacement on the typical 120 x 106 tonne Coal Train used in the Goonyella System." (QRNational Coal, 2008: 8.)

Let's stop the other webpage references as a tool to flame. Other websites are quite OK. At Railpage Australia™ I'll expect you to respect them as well.
As to content I think people can hear information from many sources.
Let it go to those who know......- Railpage Australia™ |
