Trio attack man waiting for train
September 03, 2008 07:37am

A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been attacked and robbed by three male youths while waiting for a train in Melbourne.

The Vermont man was at the Laverton Railway Station about 11.30pm (AEST) yesterday waiting for a city-bound train when the three teenagers started taunting him and throwing rocks from the car park.

They climbed onto the platform and surrounded the man, one producing a knife and demanding he hand over all his property.

The victim handed over a bag, wallet and iPod.

The group fled in an old white sedan.

They are described as being between 17-18 years old, caucasian, and about 183cm tall.

Two had blond medium length hair while the third had short dark hair. All wore hooded tops.

Idea Ahh, Laverton, before the move to Ballan, the good old days of Walker rail cars, DERMS, sitting at the end of a AW vestibule car watching the whole carriage twist & rise as the train raced through Galvin & Paisley whilst I watched along the corridor.

Not to mention the foot-warmers.

Those days are gone forever Exclamation

Mike in Longreach.

The Vinelander, from Melbourne to Mildura was Victoria's only overnight sleeping car train which was launched 8/8/1972.

Ballan, the best town, on the best railway line, in the best state, of the best country in the World. Currently in Longreach.

It is the robbers that are nasty, not the report nor the post.

A good old fashioned goods yard, once upon a time there was a narrow gauge tramway that headed from the station down towards the coastline, for explosives traffic:

If you click though to Rodney Williams fotopic site I linked earlier, there are a few more photos showing it better.
