Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra and South Coast Lines - Major delays
CityRail advises that trains are being delayed on the Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra and South Coast Lines in both directions due to a Pacific National Freight train with mechanical problems at Como. Major delays can be expected.

Bus companies have been contacted to operate a replacement service between Hurstville and Sutherland.

Train stopping patterns may change at short notice. CityRail advises customers to listen for announcements and check indicators before boarding trains.

Let me guess, Coalie failed on Como bank

Duck out for a look and see its in your backyard or near enough vince.

I would if I knew where it was because by the time i check on google maps and I get there, i'm guessing it'll be long gone.

Talk about a change of stops:

Bondi Junction: Wollongong
Bondi Junction: Guard advises now a Waterfall train
Edgecliffe: Cronulla
Kings Cross: Wollongong again
Martin Place: Blank Screen
Town Hall: Waterfall
Central: Waterfall

The tourists looked so informed they all got off at Central. As Did I Razz

I could see the Kings Cross viaduct all saturday night. From about 5 to 630pm there were no trains going across. The at 640 a train went across, then another at 645 and then another at 650. They were all headed in the direction of Bondi.

Tangara G sets are the best trains on the cityrail network.

Northern and Western Lines - Delays of 10-20 minutes
CityRail advises that some trains are being delayed on the Northern and Western Lines following a train requiring mechanical repairs earlier today.

CityRail staff are working hard to bring services back to normal timetable as quickly as possible. Delays of 10-20 minutes can still be expected.

Any comments?

Only a matter of time before a diesel gave up the ghost in the rain.

Gentlemen:

This is an interesting picture—perhaps for Cityrail Service Interruptions with all those vests in and around that cab.

.

I am sure, from time to time, that we have all felt like these bored and disgruntled, schoolboys. Dangerous!

Doubtless that fires the imagination, no end. I can think of a few of our members at Central and other places. Yo.

What we need, folks, are the great adventures of the imagination, the written word, the pixel perfect picture... We need nominations for Best Railway Related Post ...

Don't forget the schoolkids Wink

They're normally the ones who cause the 'passenger disturbances'.

Many examples are vandalism, holding open doors, messing around with random buttons etc.

The Herald reports a disruption at Lindfield, this time to do with wiring and without a mention of air-conditioning hatches.

Quote:
Crews were sent to Lindfield to repair overhead wiring at 12.30pm, causing the suspension of all trains north and south between North Sydney and Hornsby.
...
Had the repairs not been completed so quickly, Sydney might have endured another nightmare peak period

Yep, there was a fair bit of confusion on Platform 18 at Central around 12:20-12:40pm because of it.

Thankfully the announcer on 16/17 kept mentioning the Lindfield problem and you could sort of hear him on 18/19, otherwise no-one would have had any clue about the situation. As it was, it took 20-odd mins for them to get their act together and actually make an announcement on 18/19, which was absolutely pathetic IMO.

What I found odd was that the Richmond and Penrith services kept getting pushed back without any announcements and without any indication of when those services would come, whilst there were 3-4 Hornsby services in a row (the usual all-stopper, and the rest expresses going Redfern, Burwood, Strath, Epping, all to Hornsby).

Not quite accurate, shuttle service from Gordon to Hornsby..but a minor detail for the paper. Laughing
Trains coming from the city were operating a Central-North Sydney-Central shuttle, and change at Central for Western and Northern lines.
