(Photos) So, How About That Indian Pacific at Central?

You were expecting some boring photos going "this is NR blah blah blah bringing the Indian into Sydney. This is it going out again. The end"

You were wrong!

I went into Central to kill some time this morning, and set about doing something that everyone does (I myself have done it many times), and does boringly (I too have done this many times!). So many photos of the Indian Pacific at Central is the same old stuff. I've been there, and I'm over it. I hope you enjoy these shots, as I'm quite happy with them.

There are a couple of "standard" photos of the DL that I got because... well, how often does one see a DL not stuck behind an NR Class around these parts...

I'll file those two under the "boring Indian Pacific photos at Central" category though Wink

. Only look at them if you don't know what a DL looks like.

Also a couple of really "arty farty" photos taken at Town Hall, nothing to do with The Indian Pacific at all really:

Trent, what can I say? Fantastic work, some very nice and clever angles of that beautiful train. Overall favourite is the 'Please stand behind yellow line' which is still in full colour and the IP in the background with the employee leaning. 3 Thumbs up.

Definitely some great shots of the "gritty" side of the railways - it goes on wet or dry, hot or cold. and if you want to be a real photographer then you've got to be out there in that weather.

I was there too yesterday. I noticed the train was split in two. Is the IP so long nowadays that it normally has to be split at Central? (I haven't seen the IP at Central for a long time so sorry if this is a dumb question)

Actually, for the record, none of those shots used selective colour. Instead, I used the sponge took in photoshop to "suck" the colour out of parts of the photo, to ensure that parts of the photo retained more saturation than others, and thus stood out.

I did this, again, as part of making the mundane interesting.

Trent i was hoping you would get shots of the AN coloured DL as when it passed me at Blacktown and i noted the double consist i thought will Trent get pics of this.

574M, that was one of my favorite shots. I realised that I had plenty of photos of NR Class shunting at Sydney Terminal, but had not bothered to capture the blokes on the ground making it all possible.

Felt bad for them though, as if it wasn't enough standing in the rain to do the job, when NR26 tried to move into the runaround loop, Sydney box hadn't set the road, and they had to reverse back again, call the box again and find out what was going on.
