hey everybody hope all is well
does anybody know how to change the pressure of which the saftey vales 'blow off' as this is very unrelistic on some locos

thanks for any info ,lelo

if i see a graffitie artist i will kill them with my bare hands ,smegs

On which locos are the safeties unrealistic?

No matter, the answer is not quite so simple......

The maximum boiler pressure is in the Engine( part of the ENG file: look for a line like this:

MaxBoilerPressure ( 175psi )

The starting pressure is in the EngineVariables line - the fourth parameter:

Code:

comment (* fire temp, fire mass, water mass, boiler pressure, water level, tender_water_mass, smoke_quantity, tender_coal_mass,  fire_condition, coal quality  *)

EngineVariables( 875 1750 3200 176 0.80 45000 1 2 1 1 )

(Note: the arrangements of the Variables is correct as stated in the Comments section: default locos have the 2nd last and third last parameters interchanged)

If you set the starting boiler pressure to higher than the MaxBoilerPressure (176>175 in this example), you will have the safety valves lifting on starting the sim. Once the valves shut off, you will never see them again: the safety valves won't lift again because you can't exceed MaxBoilerPressure even with good firing.

On the TA Belpaire 36s the maximum pressure should be 200psi, not 180psi, and on the TA 3801 it should be 215psi, not 245psi.

I dont think the TA 3801 is modeled after the Preserved loco

I think it is - it is the only T-A 38 with an automatic front coupler (which came with preservation), all the other T-A 38's have the standard hook coupler.

Indeed it also has the flush-sided, fully welded tender tank, and also the cylinder lining.
