Funny you said that Raichase I went for a Cabride with a Driver I know on the Lilydale Line. Metrol (Train Control) gives out a warning to all Driver on the Lilydale Line to keep an eye out for a Tresspasser between Croydon and Ringwood East which the Police were looking for and for all drivers to "Take it easy through the area" then Driver I was with says "F**k em, just em over. They shouldn't even F**King be there".
We've been at Hawkesbury River when trains on the Central Coast line were held up due to a suspected trespasser outside of Woy Woy tunnel. By the looks of things, they weren't wanting to muck around at all.

Years ago I was in a loco cab, and a report came through of a suspected trespasser at Hawkamount. My driver, who has been one for almost thirty years then tells me

"I hope I catch up to that c*** soon"
"Umm... why's that? So you can abuse him?"
"Nah son, you gotta know how these things work. I can do with 4 weeks holiday!"

Twisted Evil

Funny what you said in the last part of your post Maikha. Thats exactly the same thing the Driver I was with said "I can do with Two weeks off" Laughing

I just wish I could have gotten hold of CCTV footage from Wolli Creek Illawarra down platform from about March 2004. Was driving 8 car Tangara to Waterfall. Got held at Tempe to allow all stations ahead to cross over. Got 2 greens, so was into it, approached Wolli' doing the full 70 kays, and this kid jumps off the platform in front of me wearing a backpack, well, he got both horns, foggys, high beams, and the whole 8 cars were standing on their ends, he jumped the fence so quick i swear I seen smegma coming off his pants, he jumped the 2nd fence as I accelerated the train past him yelling '%&*$ #@!()%%%&^#$' at him!
Next thing, the guard's on the intercom, saying he saw the lot and abused the cr ap out of him as well.
Best bit was, it was 5pm, and peak hour, the train was packed and later on, I realised the black flap in the door to the passenger compartment was still down....had forgot to close it on exiting the underground Erko'!, oh well....
I do agree with the above comment about blowing the horn approaching a platform your not stopping at. I used to do that all the time particularly when you could see a lot of schoolkids there. Sure, they'd jump, but it sure made EVERYONE take notice and stand back. I would do it no less than 5 seconds before getting to the platform.

It's creepy crawly season, so stop those creepys from crawling, particularly if its a TERMITE!

At Lewisham few weeks ago in the morning peak, (i get on the stop before) a guy dashes up the stairs and into the closing doors... and gets stuck, the doors didn't get reopened, Lord in heaven knows why. Anyway, this guy manages to wedge himself in.....with the 'body' part of his shoulder bag outside the door, connected to the strap, which feeds into the vestibule. I said to mum, "that's why they have that keep clear area at the top of the stairs, which always happens to line up (roughly) with the doors.

Because some train doors don't open if they are blocked. On S, R, K, V and C sets they just keep trying to close, T and G sets will stop pressure after a certain amount of time M, H and Hunters will open if they are blocked.

And before any of you go testing this stuff, reminder that interference with train doors is am offense and carry's a hefty fine.

Once on a G set doing a suburban run when the doors were opened, there green light was on the door open switch. Well when the doors were closing I pressed it, and the doors reopened for that door.

I thought they disabled that switch completely in suburban runs, or is that just unique to that train?

The guard may have inadvertently pressed the "door release" button instead of the "door open" button.

1979 could confirm this further, but AFAIK the "switch" is not deactivated per se, just it isn't used in the ETR (suburban) area.

The release button is not disabled. As Alec said the Guard may press open or release, when the guard presses open the green button lights up anyway.

When the Guard plays the DWD and STARTS to shut the doors the green button stays illuminated for 1 second. Weather this is on purpose or not if you press the button the door will re open.

The door relase function is not deactivated because the G sets do 8 Car runs in peak hours to places with short platforms. Eg Helensburgh, Scarbrough, Bellambi, Lysharts.

Thanks
1979

Ahh I see...

If a T set is coupled with a G set, and the guard's compartment is the G set, what will happen to the T set half when the guard presses the "Door release" (instead of "Door open")?

Another thing about the 2/9/08 incident (i think its bullsh*t but anyway) They say that the last 2 carriages (out of the station) had the doors opened, and the they were staring there going 'holy sh*t'.

Obviously they had never heard of such times (as my old man said) when my uncle was aboard through west and was stopped at trangie (don't think platform was long enough) so he sneakily grabs his bag (it was heavy because he was a newington boarder returning home so it was heavy) opens the door, chucks his suitcase onto the ground (8 ft down because of 'flood proof' ballast embankment) and climbs out while (my) grandma looks on in shock. Laughing Laughing

nediikins, do us a favour mate, and try not to post mischievous stuff like this. There's too much chance that it might be read by the wrong person. No matter how true it might be, it's the sort of thing that's better off not publiscised.
