Serendipity is an amazing process - meaning it's amazing what you find when you're not looking for it - meaning this thread!

There's some really brilliant pix here, and as has been previously remarked, an aspect of rollingstock that perhaps gets overlooked some.

I'm too tired to start posting pix right now, but I do believe that I have several dozen appropriate ones.

I'll warn yez now though, I'm no wagunzel - I wouldn't know an NHVF from a NODY (wasn't that the one who got out of bed feeling a little queer, or is it the Sharks' halfback? Confused ) - so I'll leave you more erudite folk to correctly identify what I post when I post it Smile

I shall return.....

Slightly off topic (but probably not enough for its own thread), I stumbled across this on the Beeb. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/business/2008/the_box/default.stm

It's just another 40 footer, but being a one-off livery, it's one to keep an eye out for and get piccies of should it find its way over here.

Got a few more from me, this time with an emphasis on bogies. Because the train speeds through Mile End are fairly low plus a pedestrian catwalk, the photos are much better this time around.

AQCY 30370.

RQSY 34483.

XSC type bogie.

2CM type bogie.

VR pattern ride control bogies.

Modern pattern ride control bogies.

You are a gentleman and thank you for the lther pics of the wagons side on. I'm getting closer to that works train, particularly when the working Kato Plasser tamper comes out at christmas!

Now if Kibri would just scale their ballast renemwal set down .....

And now, for my first contribution to this thread Very Happy

These are some coal wagons on a stalled Up coalie (lead loco 8224 failed), as viewed from my local levelxing at Corrimal, taken on 4/12/05.

The train was completely still when I took these photos - which is to say that traffic on Railway St was blocked for sometime Shocked until they got the train on its way again.

Looking down....

And looking up (not that things were for the hapless loco crew)....

Being an Up service, I would suspect that the wagons were empties; and since the train was quad hauled, it was probably on its way back to Baal Bone or elsewhere over the Blue Mountains.

More from the wurxvault.

Mum took this when her & Dad were on one of their vintage car rallies a few years ago. The fine old vintage cars are lined up in front of some fine old clerestory roof carriages at Maldon Cool

Here's a couple of pix of the wagons used on the Pelton coal train.

Wagons crossing the road overbridge at Abermain (note the abandoned Down Main to the left of the train).
