I'm not a complete idiot. I know that station is closed.

I just want to know how I can stay off the cameras as much as possible. Nothing suss, I just want to keep myself "out of the loop" (so to speak) and maintain my privilege of privacy wherever I can.

Has society progressed so far (and I use the term "progress" very loosely) that anyone who wishes to lead a private life is immediately suspected of having sinister intentions? We can't all be Paris Hilton.

Leading a private life is simple, keep your nose clean, don't dress out of the mainsteam, not look like you are hiding from something. QR has 100,000's of people using its trains daily with probably over 10,000 camera's, I'm fairly confident those looking at the security monitors only look for trouble makers, those expressing their unusual fashion tastes and those with a nice set of boobs!

I would have also thought catching public transport is the one place you cannot hide from security cameras and its for a reason and its not because society has recessed as you say. Its because of the idiots who cannot keep to themselves and simply just be private, the cameras are there for the protection of the worker and taxpayer (or future of) who would otherwise would be a victim.

Your comments still sound extremely weird and you come across with soemthing to hide. I suppose the next question is, do you own a mobile phone and a ATM card or credit card, drive a car etc if so. Give it up!!!

Regards
Shane

On this subject, is the digital face recognition software up and running yet on the north coast?

You got an outstanding warrant mate ?
I am not wanted by the police or the Government. I am not afraid of a piece of paper that says I can be put in gaol. I am afraid of the day when I need my own piece of paper to keep me out of gaol. A "license to be free" you could say.

I own a mobile phone but I keep it turned off unless I want to make a call.

Of course I have an ATM card. I pay for everything in cash and withdraw money from the same ATM near my house every time. The Government and bank know where I live already - my bank statements are mailed to me, I am on the electoral roll and the details on my drivers' license are correct. Since they already know my address the fact that I use a particular ATM nearby doesn't tell them much.

I own a car. I do not like to drive it much due to economic and environmental reasons. I live a short walk from the shops. I catch a train to work. I can walk, ride my bike or catch a train anywhere else I want to go. If I break laws in my car then I it is completely reasonable that the police can track me down with my number plate. I keep my rego and insurance details up to date.

I am not a crackpot. I have no problem with the Government knowing where I live. What I do have a problem with is some random person watching CCTV knowing my every move when I have not done anything wrong and have no intention of it.

You don't own the railway, so it ain't upto you if you get watched while on the network.

Seriously think about this....with the amount of people that use the stations everyday, what are the chances of somebody
"following you"?

I'll be sure to tell the guys who do monitor cameras to make sure they turn a blind eye when your getting sticked for your wallet, because you don't like getting watched by cameras.... Rolling Eyes

....and you say you're not a crackpot! Laughing

There aren't just cameras at railway stations either. Have you ever shopped at Westfield, walked through the Queen Street Mall, borrowed a book from your local library or played the poker machines at your local Services Club?

As DABEAR said, the day you need footage from the cameras you have artfully tried to avoid, it will not be available.

This is serious 'get over it' stuff. If you're not doing anything wrong, then who gives a flying fluck!

Mind you it would be fun to watch you on the security cameras from the Railway Control Centre and make a few announcements.

This is a pretty funny and a sad thread at the same time.

Seriously, with the number of cameras around you (not just rail), you cannot avoid being on them. We have cameras at libraries and bloody waste disposal facilities!

The real question is are you being watched. Probably no. The number that are around they need a person for each one if they are to analyse live footage. They would refer to them if someone has done something wrong and are trying to backtrack movements.

So if someone is up to something that makes people suspicious, then they will monitor that person, as someone with any sense will contact the relevant authority to say look out there is a looney tunes looking weird. If someone does something that is stupid then a bloody yes they will find that person. If Mr Normal is doing normal stuff they don't care and are probably perving on the chick with the whale tail standing there.

Don't be paranoid about life. If you are, then move to a 3rd world place or become a survivalist. If you are that uptight then I am sorry to say that it is sad that you think that society has pushed you to believe in this.

A question, do you believe that man walked on the moon? If you don't then sorry I think you believe all the other crap that these paranoid buggers make up to perpetuate their delusions.

In the end if the world is run by 7 bankers and JFK was shot by an Alien, then who cares, as long I have a choice of where I live, how I work and what I do then it really doesn't matter. Worrying about "What ifs" is a waste of time, my friend.

I could walk to a park and get punched out by someone with an attitude problem. But that shouldn't stop me from going their as the chances are 99.9% that it won't happen. It is media and wackos that enjoy hyping up crap so that a small risk is interpreted that is going to happen. Crime stats is a classic.

Enjoy life, don't be afraid.

Cheers,
Jas

Of course I believe man landed on the moon. There is video footage of it. There is also video footage of me catching the 8:01AM train from Indooroopilly to the city this morning, video footage of me arriving at work 5 minutes early with a coffee in my hand and probably footage of me buying my lunch and bank records of me getting the money to pay for it. Are there any crackpots out there who will say I'm not even in Brisbane today? Probably. I'm fabricating it all in a Hollywood basement.

I honestly couldn't care less about cameras, as long as they're not pointed at my house. Sometimes I give a wave...

One thing I do love about the cameras though, and this has happened on a few occasions.

One time, some kid put his skateboard in the door, driver says over the PA "take your skateboard out of the door. Cameras don't lie" I wasn't in that car but I can assure you he would have been freaked out.

Another time, a guy was standing in the door for about 4-5 minutes, I have no idea why, but he wasn't waiting for anyone. Guard says "To the guy in the rear carriage, you in or out mate?". I actually wrote in to mX about this because it happened a second time on the same service, but it was about a month or so apart, so God knows how many other times he'd done it. It didn't make the talk section, unfortunately. But instead of waiting five minutes, the guard gave the right of way anyway, so he had to get on then!

Personally, I think you have something to hide. The average person would not be concerned about this. As the average person has done nothing wrong. If you have done something wrong, then I could understand your concern.

What ever it is, everything comes out in the wash. The other thing that crosses my mind, is: is it possible that you have a mental condition? I am not saying this to be nasty, but your requests are not normal. Well not normal for a law biding citizen.

Cheers

Agreed.

I couldn't give two sh.ts about being filmed by CCTV cameras. I was filmed by at least twenty cameras at work today; parking my car in the car park, walking in the entrance, signing on for work, walking around the gaming room, getting lunch and in the gaming cashier handing out change ...

Hmm lets play count the cameras.

Nerang station carpark and platform
On train
South Bank station platform when I changed to a faster train
On second train
South Brisbane station platform
Main Roads traffic cameras crossing Stanley St
CCTV around QPAC and in the underground tunnel from QPAC to Museum
Busway cameras at Cultural Centre and Kelvin Grove
QUT security cameras (what few there are)
City Council Citysafe cameras
State Gov't's Goodwill Bridge CCTV
South Bank Corporation CCTV
Queensland College of Art security footage (convenient shortcut - highly recommended)
South Bank station
On another train
Back at Nerang station

And thats without even entering a retail store!

What's so special about your house? You must have something to hide there! You are doing something illegal at your house for sure.

At a house is different, but still he is not making it known. So, no. Not guilty.

Out of curiosity, what are you hiding Wink?
