No, it makes sense taking the whole train to Wallerawang because there is a triangle to turn the locomotives/train and easy places to water/coal the locos from.

I assume after (coaling up) in the coilery the 3 locos will be coming out onto the main line and then propelling back to the platform to take water

Interesting that 3526 and 3642 are both being taken off at valley heights on the return.

A shorter run home, by Parramatta Y Link then having to come all the way into Syd's CBD at Central then out via the East Hills Line & home to Thirlmere I would think... Remember they did the same in May with the Mt Vic Great Train Festival... Diesels Syd. Terminal - Valley Heights & Return,, then the Steamers: Valley Heights to Clarence Collery & return.

Hi All,
I will be working on 30 for the day, we do not do many trips each year so it is great to be able to get out on the main line.
It will be a long day for all.

That is what happened last year.
It is to be hoped that some maintenance has been carried out on the water column at Wallerawang. The leather hose on the column was so badly damaged that more water fell to the ground than entered the tenders. The rate of flow had to be severely reduced which substantially increased the amount of time needed to water. This year there will be 3 locos to water instead of the 2 last year.

Interesting though, it departs from the colliery at 1525, (NOTE COLLIERY) so do i take this to mean that maybe they won,t have to go and use the water collumn, maybe the 2 gins might be sufficient

I will be going on this trip, with quite a few other mates also. Looking forward to this one, never been on a NSW Heritage Train before.
Will there be photo opportunities throughout the day? Like at some stations we stop at? I have no idea as i have never been up there before. Just trying to plan ahead a bit.
Also interesting to note, myself (including a few other mexicans) would have seen two triple headed steam trains in the space of 2 weeks! Not many people can say that in this day and age. Its really great to see Heritage surviving this strong in Australia.

Its a shame that the 3 of them could not have left sydney on the 1 train instead of attching it at valley hight's.
To have the 3 on the front leaving sydney would have been a great look instead of just having the 2 of them.
In a way it is a waste of money to just have the single steam engine travel by its self on the friday to valley hight's and than the pair of them on the sunday from valley hight's.
