Top shots NR109! The locos look quite grubby - yep it's time for a wash again. ![]()
The two blues - NR57 and NR52 are a great combo.

Yes sir I concur they are in need of some water , but the one of NR1 is great , in fact superb , plenty of colour etc keep it up !!

If I can get the OK will upload and post a link, but don't hold your breath.

I got this same PDF a while ago myself, Its going to be a Sh#t to see the Ghan livery go to White.
My poor old NR109 is the first Ghan to go under the Brush ![]()
Cheers, Michael
yep,its Sad
NR109 sighted into Kewdale about 08:45 as 2nd unit behind NR114 on 3MP5

NR57 still leading NR52 ran the Port Kembla Limestone through Moss Vale yesterday a bit before 1500, but the road set up for them was cancelled to allow NR16/NR81/DL50 take a southbound container through at 1449. They crossed with the limestone standing at the end of the up platform.

This is FACT not speculation it has been confirmed by GSR and Pacific National.
Is there any chance we can see this PDF file ?
I spoke with the station master here in Darwin a few day ago and she said it sounds like someone has got hold of the original plans and has re hasshed them, as the white front / cab was part of the original idea that got dropped for the current scheme.

Well thats interesting because this PDF was released about a month before the Southern Spirit livery was released and it ended up being the livery shown in the PDF.
Maybe you should contact GSR or Pacific National and ask them if they are taking original plans and "Re Hasshing" them as you call it...
The PDF you will have to look for yourself through other sources as, No offence RP is the last place i would be putting it.
Cheers, Michael

Fine, I will contact GSR and PN AGAIN, asking for it. I find it odd that they have both not responded to my requests yet people on here can get it and will not back them self up but sharing the information.
BTW, I knew about the SS livery 3 months ago, but being privy to this information, I was asked to say nothing. Odd the same source has not told me of any of the other liveries.
I guess in time we will see.

I had a couple of this pdf sent to me and I have absolutely no problems sharing the info in it.
The South Spirit Livery
The Overland Livery
The Indian Pacific
The Ghan

Today two repaints went through Sydney with the first being 3MB4 with NR1(PN*)/NR6.
Cheers, Michael ![]()

Thankyou 4705-44201NB.
I see grey not white on the cabs.

Ah, the different shades of green make a tad more sense now I see they were trying some sort of overlay effect - but then they didn't complete it with the faint logo moving onto the cab. I see they changed the #2 end also.
The IP looks alright with the overlay, but the others don't do it for me ...

Those liveries look ok on paper. It seems that they will use all grey on the front. That would look better than grey on the nose and white on the roof. I wonder if they are likely to use the same loco numbers as before?

kafoopsy I have heard that
NR25-NR28 will still be IP
NR46-NR49 to be The Overland
NR74-NR77 to be The Ghan
NR84-NR87 to be The Southern Spirit
These drawings were apparently done prior to NR85 being released so there appears to have been a few changes made to these plans as NR85 came out with a white cab not grey and had the shadow emblem omitted
Current NR109 & AN3 to be repainted Standard PN

White Cabs on the IP locos? Send that west and it will be dirty in 5 secs! ![]()

But then you send them north to Darwin where all the storms are and they'll be white again. ![]()
So it looks like that 4 consecutive NRs will be allocated to a GSR service. I reckon the AN should be kept in Ghan livery, incase an NR isn't available. This is often the problem.

I would expect that somebody took the design consultants aside and pointed out that metallic silver was not a high visibility colour within the meaning of the act, and they had to add white to the lower cab sides to meet the visibility requirements.
It would be better to make the whole cab white since the silver won't stay clean either.
Either way, I think the earlier red and blue schemes were better!

Good point. Didn't think of that...
Ditto.

I agree with what you are saying, but would it be correct to say the drivers MAY have asked for some other colour, to best reflect the heat...up North Just asking ??

I can't believe this! NR77 is being repainted into Ghan and NR109 is going into PN!!!
Sorry NR109!!!
Of note there is a video of NR85 in SS livery here:
By MickFix - watch video on YouTube
Thanks to MickFix for posting it.

Luck prevailed today!

By chance were schematics also sent to you with the new colour schemes for the coaches?
Care to share them over at Rolling stock in a "new" thread ![]()
cheers,
Chris

Love those pics Chase.
With regard to the logos, I think they should reverse them accordingly so that they are going forward. The Overland emu running towards the back of the train just ain't right! ![]()
Did you know you can now record your sightings in our new Sightings module?
