Anyone know what Freight its going to leave ACR on?

I have just called Petey3801 and he says one of the Pacific National Services that departed ACR earlier this afternoon/evening - possibly BM4, BA6, or BW4.

That is SMU 202 and she looks quite good from the outside; I haven't seen the inside. I think it was involved in the Corinda derailment.

Cheers Mate,
If anyone can confirm if its Leading and which of those freights it departed on it'd be much appreciated.

Cheers Trevor.

Pete pointed out to me that NR 85 will probably be turned at Acacia Ridge because a DL does not normally lead.

Another mate in NSW suggested that the Locomotive will probably be on #3BM4 which departed ACR at about 17:00, I think.

I don't know much about Standard Gauge, but I hope this helps!

As most probably know by now, NR85 was second unit on BW4 Tuesday evening out of BNE.

I was going to get a shot of it somewhere on the lower North Coast/Maitland-Newy section, however due to a silo fire and explosion at Wallarobba sawmill, the railway was closed from about 0900 until around 1530. I had heard it wasn't going to be open until around 1800, and BW4 was sitting in Stroud Rd loop.

I pulled into the carpark at Maitland station while a cousin on mine used the facilities on the station, and while we were sitting there, I saw NR7(?) peak out from behind the station building. I thought to myself, 'hmmm, they must have reopened the line, I might be able to get a shot of......" and partway through that thought, NR85 rolled out from behind the station building trailing NR7 Evil or Very Mad

Oh well, no matter!

Thanks, Pete.

Here are some photos I have taken on the standard gauge recently.

CountryLink XPT, Kagaru ...

NR 12, Kagaru

Kagaru looks very much like rural NSW even though it is quite close to Brisbane!

Caught the train from Bowen Hills and to Milton and back for the big game last night (Broncos - Storm semi-final, crowd 50,000+). Everything was going well on the way home, trains were crowded, but manageable, but then the train had problems at Brunswick Street.

At first the driver said the train was overloaded, and then he said that he needed to switch the power off to do a restart. He did that twice, after about 15 minutes everyone had to get off the train, and then catch a train back to Central. At Central they then announced that platform 6 was no longer usable, so everyone had to head upstairs and to a different platform to get the next train Northbound. And then that train had to wait for a few minutes short of Bowen Hills before finally arriving.

I wasn't too bothered, these things happen, although it would have been a more tolerable delay if I had been reminiscing about a Broncos victory rather than a last minute loss.

Brunswick St seemed to only have the 2 working platforms, and with one blocked it must have caused some delays for the system. The train with the problem was one of the older models, I don't know the exact differences between types, but it seemed like a standard older Caboulture electric train.

A ballasting train headed by two clean looking locomotives in QR National livery between Toowong and Taringa stopped with the gang have a break, as I caught one of the regular services to Oxley at some point between 11:30 and midday.

Some observations from today - in Gladstone near the Rocky end of Callemondah (next to the new bridge):

08:16 - City of Maryborough ETT southbound;
12:38 - 3563/3555 mid-helpers heading into Callemondah arrival roads with a loaded coal (I didn't catch the lead locos);
12:48 - 2840 in Broncos livery heading southbound on a freight;
13:02 - PN011 heading northbound on a freight;
13:08 - 2209D/2171D/2360/2361 heading northbound on an empty coal (to Moura via the flyover?);
13:15 - 2479D/2483D heading southbound with empty limestone wagons in tow;
13:22 - PN007 heading southbound on a freight;
13:28 - 3553/3538+3514/3507 heading northbound on an empty coal;
13:31 - 4006/4113+4105 heading into Callemondah arrival roads.

One thing that I noticed - there were no pie carts (ELRCs) on any of the sparks that I saw - are they only used in certain situations Question

Photos to come next Tuesday (when I get back home in Townsville). Smile

I saw EMU 62 paried with EMU 66 on test to Caboolture and Robina today. The door handles have been removed and push buttons installed. They are the same type as used on the SMU/IMU.

EMU 16/88 failed at Morayfield this evening. The MCB went on unit 88, about 15 minutes later and after putting the pans down, the train was up and running again.

I'd hate to think how the drivers at the gates felt!

I'll be interested to see if in future, they slow down the closing of the doors to make it safer, although much to my annoyance. Plus to see if they will get the doors to close after 2mins, just like the new IMU160s/SMU260s.

Will be also interesting to see this implemented across all EMUs, and by the sounds of it, the EMU seems to be staying in the medium to long term, with all this money being spent on upgrading it to DDA standards...although they didn't really have much choice as there are deadlines to meet with the DDA.

By the way, I spotted EMU 66 in revenue service heading northbound from Roma St station yesterday afternoon just after 5pm.

Cheers
Cool

Went to up to Brisbane yesterday and while on the train, saw the following:

3 x 1720s (1 in bronco and the other 2 in blue) in the yards just near Marooka
21xx/28xx/21xx on a container train crossing the Merivale Bridge.

I also noticed that only platforms 6-9 at Roma Street and platforms 5 and 6 at Central were in use. Maybe due to platforms 1 & 2 at Brunswick Street being renovated.

Thanks

Jamie
