Not Nowingi.
I'll add another word to the clue.
Negative, like positive Sam
Negative is the key word, positive Sam is the clue.

Yes Sam, err, Roderick. Massey it is.
Negative = reversed.
Positive = yes, reversed = sey.
Sam reversed = Mas.

I'll try to have one up on Wednesday, rather than use the first thing which pops up.

I think Myrtleford may be worth an exploratory suggestion.

Not Myrtleford: correct thinking, but not my nomination.

In the musical "South Pacific" a girl named Honeybun is described as being, " broad, where a broad should be broad."
With that in mind, I'll nominate Broadford.

Going well, but still not my nomination.
Not: Myrtleford or Broadford.

I have found another eight places ending in "ford" ( nine if you count suburban Seaford ), and I don't think any fits correctly.
I do not have Roderick's encyclopaedic knowledge of old stations, so I confess to being stumped.
The best I can do is Daylesford.

I suppose I have to consider the possibility the Mr Smith has chosen Stratford. Not that I can see how that fits. Strat backward is 'tarts' though.

Dayle's Ford was the correct choice.
