Not every NR goes to melbourne after repaint.
NR16,45 & 52 Never did.

That doesn't mean its still there and not every repainted NR heads there after they come out, as Squeek has said 16, 45 and 52 never did!

I am not sure if it is still the go, but in the past any loco that had been re painted had to be weighed and certified. I belive part of the certificaion is an inspection that, on the NR's, is carried out at Spotswood. Hence the reason they all run to Melbourne shortly after re paint.

Maybe now they all do. But in the past not all the NRs have been stright there when they got painted.
