ABC's Compass Program tonite had a program on Syd's. Rookwood Cemetery covering the Jewish, Islamic, Chinese & Catholic Sectors of the burial ground... Was quite an interesting program to watch...

Now, if sure, I've heard mention of guided tours over the years to this facility... But what interests me the most is, was the facility served by a rail connection, similar to Fawkner in Melb Question

I'm sure I've heard mention of 3112 hauling trains to visit the old branch or some simular branch in urban Syd. with a mass Cemetery at the branches end...

One of the station buildings was dismantled and is now in use as All Saints Church in Ainslie , a suburb of Canberra

Rookwood actually contained 4 platforms in its heyday for funeral trains.

I didn't come here looking for trouble, I just came to do the RP shuffle... break it down...

A book called Sydneys' Forgotten Park and Rural Railways contains quite a bit of information as well as photos of the Rookwood Line.

01ltd organised 3112 for a tour to Rookwood Cemetery back in 2006. But due too problems 4918 took over the train. I was on this tour and it was interesting.

But I would too recomment John Oakes's Book 'Sydneys Forgotten Park and Rural Railways'.

ALL of John Oakes' books are worth a read!

There are some fascinating nuggets of gold in all of them.
