All FD, FF, QP and the remaining two TRs, unused TUs, CEs, NHTF and various other rubbish are going for scrap. All of these wagons were not offered as part of the sale. None of the QS, QNF, FP, FE, FEP, HQ, ZJ wagons should be going anywhere at this stage.

The FDs are log wagons. Now, i thought PNT was to be sold "as is were is" basis. If this is true, wouldn't the scrapping of rail equipment deem illegal?

lol i am aware of them being log wagons Damo,
what i meant is that the FDs are most of the log wagons true?,
so whats the point of keeping the FPs, FEs and FEPs?

ahh, sorry champ Embarassed yes true, most of the log wagon fleet. I agree, why keep the older FP FE and FEP's when they are the most flimsiest wagons out there.

On what basis do you claim that FEs are among the most flimsiest wagons out there? They are light weight, strong and more than capable of handling logs where the weight is carried directly through the bolsters to the bogies. Conversion to QNs to carry UPMs was even a good outcome as the load was light and carried more or less by the centre sill. The problems came with the conversion to QNFs and the fitting of automatic twistlocks which resulted in point loading away from the original designed loading points causing excessive bending stress on the underframe. Can we please stick to facts rather than opinion?

spot on siroch!

The FE's were built for logs are good wagons for this purpose and still would be.

Nothing wrong with scrapping wagons that are stuffed, makes sense to get rid of the rubbish, this is not new, even ATN scrapped wagons & locos.

Ok, so i was wrong on FEs. I thought they were flimsy due to there construction, easy to be twisted when derailed.

Not the TU's and CE's!!

Its a shame that one of each class being cut couldnt be preserved, if not donated then offered for sale to the societies.

But of course, PN wouldnt get any $$$ from that.
