That has always been the case, after the christmas steam train trip there is no more steam trips until the first Sunday in March ( Thirlmere Festival of Steam )

AS a matter of fact, Jan. / Feb. their is usually only 1 to 2 tours run in that period anyway... Usually theirs a Aust. Day SAnor Dining Car Train to Kandos (& it's always hot as buggery) & one or other event in Feb, but the majority of the ML Steam & Diesel Action doesnt start back to the first wkend in March, Thirlmere Festival of Steam...

I believe the Country Music Train last year was done by AHRS/ACT division Question Question

The operator of The Tamworth Country Music Train: Country Music Trains Aust. was responsible for the total operation of the train last year, as far as I'm aware, ARHS ACT was only a sub-contractor to the trains operation, this just providing the rollingstock, the crewing of the train, eg loco crews ect was organised by the charterer: Country Music Trains Aust. From what I heard, the operation of the train in general (the charters fault not ARHS ACT's) was nothing more then a complete & utter disaster...

Duffy, Fireman Dave or Monday (as well as Termite) may be able to provide more info. on the operation last years train...

All i know about that particuallur train was that they were about 9 hours late- getting up to Tamworth due to air problems at Golburn, re-routing of the train- due to trackwork, and other factors which i won,t go into here B.T.W im pretty sure this was bought up in a thread at the beginging of the year- but that thread was Thread LOCKED! ed

Having been part of the crew on that train, there was a lot left to be desired in its organisation and execution. As there are issues pertaining to it that are ongoing, I will not elaborate at this stage.

Suffice it to say, there are very good reasons why the RTM was not interested in running the train.

Cheers

Thanks for the info Duffy, so correct me if I am wrong but could all video/photos I have of the CTM be historic now?

It would be a shame if it dose not run anymore, it was always one of the most fun and challanging trains to chase every year Very Happy .

Exactly. There were several issues. However, re-routing due to trackwork on the northbound run was not an issue at all.

I believe there is another heritage operator in NSW that may have been approached for next years train.

Regards.

Well from what I can guess, it's not goin' to be hard to figure out whom will be running it, as their are really only 3 Heritage Rail Organisations in NSW capable of running such a train...

NSWRTM Sthn Aurora Consist
ARHS ACT: Comprising Mini Sthn Aurora Sleeping Car Consist, NSWGR BAM Sleepers, plus FS & N Type Sitting Cars
HVRT/Rothbury Riot: Comprising Mini Sthn Aurora Sleeping Car Consist & NSWGR assorted Dining/Lounge & Sitting cars

The above first two have previously run the TCMT in previous years...

I think the comment that the operation of the train was "too much being done by too few people, at too shorter notice." sums it up well.

Last year it was running under the ARHS accreditation utilising our aurora fleet, with one of our other power vans, and a 3rd party DF dining car in combo with the majority of the Ozback set. Motive power was sourced in from everywhere...

The four mainline loco op's in NSW that can do the job are RTM, ARHS, 01 and LVR - (HVRC dont have accreditation).

I believe the other operator being approached is LVR - good luck to them if they can run the train, its not a small operation by any stretch of the imagination. However, I believe the ARHS is still looking at possibly doing the job next year.

"I know. Let's have everyone who enjoys having obstacles in their life, which they can overcome, go this way, and everyone whose insecurities sabotage their potential to overcome those obstacles go that way. "

That would awesome as that would be awesome to see a 47 class on a CMT train. And if ARHS do the job for tours would also be cool.
They like to lone locomotives from the RTM such as 44211, 4490 and 4803 in the past for tours at times if I am correct.

They (ARHS ACT) like to burrow locomotives from the RTM Diesel Fleet, such as 44211, 4490 & 4803 in the past for tours at times, if I am correct.

Of recent through, ARHS ACT appear to have used JRW Locos from Junee/Goulburn Roundhouses for the motive power on their tours... with quite colourful combos appearing...
