Thanks for the welcome. Im a 4th generation railroader, My father once told me that Australia used to try and get American engineers (drivers) to come there and work.Is there ant truth to that?

That's true, we short of drivers here by the plenty!

On a more 'foamerish' note, if you like Bulldog nose locos then we still have plenty still on the mainline including a couple of locos (GM 10 and B 61) which date from 1952 and are still being flogged in revenue service.

Welcome to RP, May i ask you something. Whats the go with your locomotives when they sound horns and whistles, two long notes, one short one, then another long one??

Here in Australia most crews give like a simple quick blast or maybe two at a crossing and that is about it.

SMR30 I was going to ask why you guys only give a short blast a crossings as I watch a few of your trains on youtube......The reason we sound our horns that way is that it's Federal law to blow for crossings in that manner.

They should be in museums over here as well. Razz The ALCos alone are probably keeping the Ozone Hole open Laughing
They're not the same thing, though. They look mighty similar, but there's a few differences (such as the A and B Classes having two cabs).

Thats very interesting that newer US locomotives are used there.I had no idea that they shipped our locos overseas.I didnt relize this until I saw a video of the Pilbara Railway. Do the rail companies there harrase their employess as ours do in the US? We are under a microscope constantly,GPS on the locos allows them to watch an engineers every move of the controls, and a constant eye of company officers watching us and testing us from behind bushes.

A good spot to look up for Australian locos is http://locopage.railpage.org.au/
eg GM 10 is http://locopage.railpage.org.au/anr/gm.html and B61 is http://locopage.railpage.org.au/vline/b.html

There were a couple of F7 locos in Australia http://locopage.railpage.org.au/bhp.html#BHP2 and http://locopage.railpage.org.au/bhp/ph_f7a.html
