Thanks M636C for the info! Who's next down to Dandenong?

Please don't confuse me with somebody who knows what's going on!

I just report what I see as far as vehicle movements go.

I'd expect that an EC will go soon, if only so that there can be a complete set on show at Central for a political photo opportunity. If they thought they could get away with it, they'd turn 2503 and couple it to 2502 and 2513, but somebody would notice the lack of a disabled toilet.

Apparently they did a media launch of the Xplorer cars, with only the EA car as the refurbished one, and the EB and EC as ordinary!

An EC would be nice, but would be a waste since they're always last filled up. The EB cars need it the most - they're always filled to crush capacity. Laughing

Leungy assures me that one of the EC cars has new seating but is otherwise unrefurbished. Perhaps this was used for the media launch.

I heard they were planning one media launch but that one was deferred.

Can anybody please advise of the current whereabouts of freshly refurbished Xplorer Intermediate car EB 2513 atm?

This car arrived back in Eveleigh on Saturday 27th september and whilst visiting Eveleigh yesterday, Icould not see it anywhere and therefore assume it is already back in service!

Any assitstance regards the whereabouts of this car would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for anyassistance given!

Okay I can confirm after my Canberra trip two "refurbished" Xplorers.

EC2524:

It was a very sneaky refurbishment: new carpets and seat covers, except there were the two aisle seats next to the stack which were in the old covers. New curtains, but the vestibule, and toilet weren't refurbished. No new paint scheme either.

EA2506:

All new seat covers and curtains. No new carpet. Buffet and vestibules unrefurbished too. Old paint scheme. I think the seat covers might have been fitted at Eveleigh, but they must go down to Dandenong anyway, as they need a full engine overhaul.

Is that kid trying to advertise there or something? "Oh, this photo's for Railpage Australia™? Check out my new game!"

Nicely done!

Lol I was telling the passengers at the front to look away, but the little boy holding the PS2 game couldn't resist showing his Simpsons Game. Laughing Actually his left hand is sort of "showing" the game so it may very well be an advertisement! Laughing

"The new revolution of Simpsons gaming is here, and contains more trains than ever before. Yep, you saw it here first, on Railpage Australia™!"

Alltrainz,

Thanks for publishing these photos for everyone to see. I had been told that EA 2501 and one other car have been similarly treated as well.

If anyone comes across any cars similarly treated, please let me know!

Does anyone know the current whereabouts of refrurbished EB 2513?

Thanks for information supplied!

2513 is currently at the depot undergoing a compressor change & some other OOC repairs.

KTA 19,

Thanks for your response, I spotted EB 2513 on yesterdays Armidale Xplorere heading North West.

Can you please advise as to whether the compressor was being changed to the new compressors or is it just a change to the older type.

I am aware that all Xplorer and Endeavour cars are to be fitted with new compressors at some stage but am unsure if this is being done atm or is to happen later on.

If new compressors have been fitted to cars, are you able to provide a list of which cars have had these changed?

Thanks in advance for any assistance given!

No, just a changeout to the current hydrovane. Trial new compressors wont be fitted till new year, at this point on 2 Endeavour cars for evaluation. Not part of the current re furb program.

KTA 19,

Two questions for you:

1)Can you please advise as to which (if you know of course) Endeavour set is trialing the new Air Compressors?

2) Do you know when the Endeavour cars are to be fitted with the mini auto couplers? Are there any cars trialing these?

Thanks in advance for any assistance given!

Today's Moree Xplorer to Sydney had a refurbished EA - I presume EA2502. Couldn't catch the numbers - it was connected to the Armidale set.

EDIT: EA2503 actually. My mistake. Embarassed Embarassed

That was EA 2503 that you saw.

EA 2502 was at Eveleigh all day today.

The Endeavour cars for the compressor trial have not been selected at this point. All likelyhood be Eveleigh based cars.

Looks like new year for the coupler trial. waiting delivery ex Voith Germany.

The next four cars appear to be on the way back.

I just found an ARTC TAA with the following:

Country Link Empty Passenger –return to Sydney
18th December 2008
THE FOLLOWING TIMETABLES WILL APPLY:
8615 on Thur 18/12/08 will depart Dynon Yard 1000, arrive Albury 1335, form SP55.
SP55 on Thu 18/12/2008 will depart Albury 1335, arrive Table Top 1348, x, depart 1405, pass Gerogery 1411, Culcairn 1424, arrive Henty 1435, x, depart 1445, pass Yerong Creek 1456, The Rock 1503, Uranquinty 1513, Wagga Wagga 1523, Bomen 1531, Harefield 1541, arrive Junee 1550, L, depart 1555, pass Cootamundra 1645, Wallendbeen 1701, Demondrille 1713, Harden 1717, Yass Jct 1805, Joppa Junction 1907, Goulburn 1911, Moss Vale 2001, Macarthur 2123, thence as tabled by RailCorp

Consist: XPT, 4 cars (TE/LE/EC/EB)

By the sounds of that to me they are running a XP Locomotive (that'll get some going) down to Dynon, turn, attach and run back. RailCorp doing their own transfers. PN must have put the charge up.
