News say Rudd kills off the NW metro.. doesnt see any ALP votes out that way.
LOL
Lets hope the heavy line use goes back in now and Rouse Hill and Epping gets a above line sooner than later at $4bn or so.. that will get votes and also be alot cheaper than a fantasy Metro line at $10bn +

Link to the news story, because I see nothing about this in the news at all.

SMH, not NEWS
http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/no-labor-votes-in-metro/2008/10/06/1223145261827.html
Note that it comes from 'Senior NSW sources', I'd put my money on that being Roozendaal, but it could be any one in the NSW govt. trying to offload the blame. Read the story through to the end and you'll see the sourcing gets even more flimsy. Very poor journalism. In any case, it's a crap project.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is Roozendaal, but notice the other projects in remaining order, all roads and no public transport/rail projects.

It was a lousy idea for a metro anyway. Either build a proper metro system closer in, or build heavy rail to the Northwest as per the previous plan. Or cry "we're broke", and don't do anything.

Umm, it lists the West Metro (Syd to Parra - was always a better first option for a metro) and the Northern Sydney (rail) freight corridor.

there was never any chance of the Federal government funding the 'North-West Metro'. It's not within its funding purview - something set by the Whitlam government.
The 'West Metro' is only receiving federal attention because promising a 'fast train' to Penrith was an election stunt. Your fast train to Penrith will be courtesy of CityRail and slow trains courtesy of the 'West Metro'

Best thing that could've happened to the stupid idea. Unless someone with brains actually stepped in and made it compatible with the rest of the network, but someone with brains? I'll stick with my first comment.
Who is Kent B?

Ahhh well that what you get for voting a Queenslander into office, did you also hear about Brisbane's fancy new metro?? Annouced today by Anna Bligh, no doubt she will also seek federal funding.
