Heh, yeah, I remember those... Nearly blew me away when I was young on the farm at Wallarobba when they were new!

I just happened to be drawn out of the hat first. For the rivet-counters, it takes 144 Litres of paint to do a 92 Class. Still, better a poke in the eye with a blunt stick.
Story doing the rounds last Friday is these beasties will enter revenue service sometime this week. Unconfirmed at this stage, and I'm certainly execting to be proven wrong, but they might be out and about. "apparently" Roster's is having a bit of a summy-spit about the number of crews that are qualified for them. Or lack thereof. I certainly won't be willing to set foot on one till I get schooled in 'em. Not even qualified for the EPIC Brake Valve at this stage...

The main differences to digest would be the screen based displays and menuing systems , bit different to physical gauges and cut out cocks .
EPIC 3102 (if thats what they have) is good to use , dump valve is a new thing after 26L and 30CDW .
I thought I read somewhere that these engines were getting some kind of NYAB system ?
Electric compressor generally much better than shaft driven ones , can pump flat out without high engine revs .
Cab better than any 81/82/90 , be a big let down to get back into the "old" ducks - let alone a billy cart (48r) .

The buggers didn't move at all today. There wasn't enough TO's on for us to do anything much at all really. As KR points out there are still a lot of mainliners and TO's to get schooled with th 92's. So unfortunately for the gunzels it'll be a little while yet till they're in regular service on the coalies.

Rumour is they are going to Antiene very soon. Most of the crews up there have done class and ground instruction, so not too long before they are on domestic coal.

None of the divisions can actually spare the locos. We need every bit of motive power we can get our hands on. The blokes from Morandoo don't like us using their engines for shunting when none of ours are available and vice versa. And rightly so too, I might add.
I can't really comment if any are going to Intermodal or not, but as I mentioned we're pretty desperate for more locos up here. Whether the 92's head to Antiene for the power station runs to free up more locos in and around the HBT for export traffic I don't know, only time will tell. From my rumour mill they're all staying in Northern Coal, for the time being.

In line fueling would be the only way to go. By the way lately a few PS6 srervices out of Perth have been running with in line fueling operating.
