Not - Semaphore, Glanville, Terowie, Peterborough or Willunga.

Clue 1.5 -

The service was only timetabled to run once (99% sure) a day.

Hint - The railcar/s on this timetabled service may have been replaced by loco hauled trains on occasions.

New Clues 2.0/2.1 - The railcar or train that ran to this location was never run on standard gauge, nor were any of the railcars that operated this service converted to standard gauge.

Not Brinkworth or Mitcham.

Clues 2.5/2.6 - This location no longer exists and has been served by two gauges.

Ok, it's been a while so we will skip to clue 2.99 -

This was the shortest regularly scheduled railcar run on the SAR/STA.

It was running up until the early 1980's. Don't know where passengers alighted as I never travelled on it 'cause I was too young and a bit scared Sad .

Very close Pressman...

This location was a little bit closer. I could be wrong, however I don't believe this location had a platform or that the service used a platform.

I seem to recall a service for the workers which ran to Mile End Junction, somewhere near the signal cabin, on the way in to Mile End Yard, as opposed to on the main south lines.

It has to be Mile End Plant Depot. All the clues fit, except the one about the service running once a day. It may have done so at the time the service ceased in 1981, but in the mid 1970's there were four services a day in both directions and I have the WTT's to prove it.

I'm not crazy, M'Lynn, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years!

The Winner is...

<drum roll>

4BJ with Mile End Plant Depot

An honorary mention goes out to Guard Class 2. I would have paid his answer if I had a chance to see it before 4BJ wrote his answer Cool

I won't repeat all the clues as I think there all listed on this page already.

Thanks for the extra info 4BJ, I vaguely remember a service running out there around 8 in the morning during the early 80's (I was only around ten at the time). I'm sure I thought it was unusual at the time for there to be no afternoon return service, however I could very well be wrong.

It would also be good to hear from anyone that travelled on or knows of the exact destination of this service.

Another question bites the dust, so over to you 4BJ.
