I thought the windows of railcar 3015 were very good when I travelled on it from Belair to the city erlier this year. In fact the best windows on a pox. Also noticed that the newest railcars 3029, 3030, 3139-3140 all seem to have good windows. But look how bad the windows are on 3107-3108 or 3117-3118 for comparison.

3017 and 3020 also look as if they have had the windows replaced. It looks as if they have only replaced the outer pane, not the inner one so you can still see all the scratches inside the railcar. However, it is still a good thing to see through the railcar!

I can confirm that 3003 and 3010 have now got the new windows installed. Looks so much better and they have replaced the inner and the outer windows and with tintting too.

Currently on my way home on 3006 and now as new windows. Progress of being able to see daylight for passengers is moving along well by the looks of it. 3 cars this week only 67 to go.

Can now add 3004 to the list. Just spotted it at Pt Adelaide. Looks like there getting one or two cars done a day.

At this rate we will be able to see Adelaide before Christmas, hooray! It will be nice to take visitors up to Belair and back by train and actually show them the sights.

The masses are so easily pleased |
Strange how the media have suddenly dropped the window debate, now instead concentrating of those devilish evil trams that appartently cause fainting spells |
Been into Adelaide Station recently ? TA are really pushing the publicity wagon - there's a large poster near the platforms 'announcing' the scheme to replace all the windows.
Although I'm amazed that the poster didn't include a photo of "Media Mike" in a suit, with a Hi-Vis vest and hard hat, standing, smiling, beside a railcar. |
2001,
Do you think it might have something to do with an Election coming up.
Regards,

Sure do, Wilfy, sure do !
In SA there's no escaping the sight and sound of Mike.
Example : in the days leading up to the commencement of Daylight Saving Time, there was a public awareness service pushed over the radio stations.
And, indeed, it was Mike who was the 'voice' on the radio telling us to "turn our clocks forward by one hour"
