an inspection means an ultrasound to check the quality of the plates of the boiler not too much work just time consuming and costly replacing the stays could be a big job however i beleive that the SHR enthusiast page says nothing about this problem though Confused however regulator issues were fixed Smile

The enthusiast page isn't updated that often Sad
This issue was raised through word of mouth via people who have an association with 621 Wink

It turned out to be 1 stay was leaking and this has temporarily been fixed to allow 621 to continue working cockle trains during the holidays, but if the adjacent stays fail then its instant withdrawal of the boiler. 621 has never been used like this before, while under steamrangers care, so problems were bound to spring up

Gentlemen,

On good authority, 621 ONLY had ONE broken stay, Its been plugged, with the OK from the boiler inspector and is back on the south coast running the Cockle Trains.

Hi all

Hope you have had a good Christmas.

Some happenings on the SteamRanger Heritage Railway:

DE958 TO BE USED ON THE COCKLE TRAIN (CT):
Since all of our steam Locos are under repair / under restoration / awaiting restoration, we thought that using 958 on a few selected days would generate a bit of interest. 958 will operate the CT on 2/1/09 and 3/1/09. (507 / 400 RC's / Brill 60 will operate the balance.)

DON'T FORGET THE "STHATH-LINK"!
Also not to be missed is the Brill to Strathalbyn from Goolwa (connects with the CT from Victor Harbor) on 4/1/09 and 25/1/09 as the "Strath-Link" service. We don't operate a lot of these services so don't miss out.
PS: There is a choice of 4 pubs in Strathalbyn to have lunch at!

NEW ALL DAY COCKLE TRAIN TICKET:
We have just launched an all day Cockle Train Ticket. Great value at $35 Adult / $25 Children (no conc.). The all day ticket can be purchased from Victor Harbor / Pt Elliot / Goolwa railway stations on the day of travel. Get on at Goolwa at 10.00am (or any other station at any time) and ride till you drop! or at least until the last service returns to Goolwa at 4.30pm (or 6.10pm on selected days). You can also break your journey at any time and get back on when you like.

MIDDLE OF THE DAY BRILL / 400 RC, CT WITH CROSS AT PT. ELLIOT:
Up to and including 3/1/09 there is an extra return CT service (Dep Goolwa 1100Hrs and VH 1230Hrs) that crosses the regular CT service at Pt Elliot. Great Photo opportunity but please help us by getting the CT there!

Happy New Year!
