You will find most operators will actively discourage employment in other transport companies, as generally it pertains to fatigue management. (NB. The example that I give applies to bus drivers in SA, and logically applied to all other transport workers. Do not rely on for legal advice. If unsure, seek advice from your line manager.

Hypothetically, on Saturday you finish your CityRail shift at 10pm. You have been rostered by Cityrail to have a three day weekend as you have worked 25 of your maximum 28 days in a month. During this time, PN contacts you and says we have 12 hour job for you on day 3. It finishes approximatley 12 hours prior to the start of your next CityRail shift. Initially, due to delays you start time gets pushed back 2.25 hours for your start. On your return back to base, a locomotive develops problems and is considered a failure. After some percussive maintenance, with support from the mechanic on the phone, you are able to get going and return to depot 1 hour after you are scheduled to return. This means your 12 hours shift is now encroaching on your minimum 10 hours between shifts. Generally speaking, it is illegal for you to start your shift with CityRail until the 10 hours, which means you can't start your shift for an hour and a quarter after you were rostered to start. This means until the 10 hours has past, you are not allowed to work as you are "resting".

witsend, it was I that reported your post just suggesting that the phone number shown be deleted.

First time I've been pulled on that. I just copy and past the ads as they appear on the newspaper/website/etc. What policy/rule/guideline have I missed?

The only reason I just copy and paste is that if I edit it, then the advert could be misleading and is not a true representation of publicly available information. I also include a link to the source of of the exact advert, where possible. Where two adverts are absolutely identical in all aspects, with the exception of location, I have on occasion just posted the one, with both locations listed. If I posted an incorrect detail, I could mislead potential applicants with the details of the job, and maybe liable. I also check the ad at random intervals during the advertised period in case the company has changed posted details.

Either way, I look forward to the moderator's decision particularly given the above information.

FWIW I don't like to see personal mobile phone numbers listed on RP, even if they are freely available elsewhere. There've been cases where certain numbers have been made available here (AK Cars and ARTC Train Control being two I can think of) and Gunzels have rung them up demanding to know where they are or where -SA8 is....

So I'll tend to delete the numbers and just link to the CareerOne advertisement.

I only know what's already been posted about Cowra.

As for the wheat, it'll be interesting to say the least.

My ISPs email server has just come back on line after 2 days and anything that was in my In Box is gone.

How do PN contact you? By email or phone?

Or is it still way too early to hear anything yet?

Patience is required here.

Nearly 1100 people applied for these positions.

Yes, that's nearly one thousand one hundred people...

Cheers

My notice arrived by email this Friday afternoon. Sad

Haven't read it yet as I'm still at work. The wife rang and gave me the bad news.

Maybe next time.
