Just found this from another forum I occasionally go to.

Forum Moderator murdered in UK

http://kotaku.com/5055079/man-arrested-over-advance-wars-forum-murder

Quote:
A German gamer has been arrested near Frankfurt on suspicion of involvement in the death of a British student, Matthew Pyke.

The unnamed suspect is believed to have had a disagreement with Pyke on Wars Central - a forum for fans of the Advance Wars series that Pyke moderated.

Police allege that the 21 year old man traveled to Nottingham, UK, and gained entry to Pyke's flat where he stabbed the 20 year old student to death. Pyke's body was discovered last Friday by his girlfriend, also a site moderator.

Sorta makes the Chronicles of Samuel seem quite tame...

Reading about that Samuel, he seemed a bit of a nut case. Crikey, I was born into the railways and have been part of the railway family all my life, but there's still a life to live outside trains Rolling Eyes You can't root a train!! Shocked

The people on the interwebs... Rolling Eyes

Worst thing is, they'll be copycats. There are always copycats. I wonder what the motivation for the murder was. I can't see a mod being killed for "no reason".

Damn that's really going way overboard. Wow.

Some people really need to get out more and meet real people, in real places...

It's only the Internet, a bunch of zeroes and ones!!! Bang Head Neutral

I can usually smell out out a good thread that I can kick back and bring out a bag of twisties and a beer, and have fun reading, but I missed the whole darn Samuel thing. Darn it! Laughing

DOWN, Mick, DOWN BOY!!!

I saw the original report and found it very disturbing. Having "officiated" for a large outfit with a butterfly logo in the days when they ran free chat services I can certainly attest to the fact tat there is a degree of nastiness out there.

There is also a small amount of potentially scary stuff such as this case.

Would I mod this forum? Depends whether I'm invited, dunnit Wink
