Looking for any information you can give me reference being a train controller for the ARG in Western Australia. I currently am in the United States working in a railroad management. I started out as what we call a dispatcher. I recently went to an ARG Company hiring expo here. Not much information so any you could give would be great. Was wondering about pay, benefits, working conditions, hours etc. Do railroad managers have better benefits and a "better" job? Also why is ARG hiring so much? I don't 100% understand the railroad companies in Australia. The ARG represenative said they were expanding, QR company putting big money into the railway and that there is not enough people in Australia to fill all of these jobs.

Any information would be very helpful and appreciated. Myself and fellow co-workers are looking into the possibility of working in Australia.

thanks. . . .

Appreciate the links and they are both very helpful. I am trying to get some idea on what railroad workers make in Australia compared to here in the States. Does anyone know on average what a train controller (dispatcher) makes? I also am having a real hard time understanding the different rail companies. It is confusing to try and figure how ARG is hiring so much but they don't own any track? Or at least do not dispatch it/have train controllers?

thanks again
