After a big night out, last Tuesday, my brother and I caught a 4-car set to Murdoch that was bound for Mandurah (this being the 5:30am service from Esplanade station).

Is this normal, even for the odd travelling time? Would I assume that 4-car A sets are used at this time because of their slower speed?

Seems to be, last Thursday I was leaving Mandurah at 6:15am-ish headed for Perth, and a 4-car A-set was just pulling into Mandurah that day, too.

Looks very shiny! Bit disappointed that they didn't paint the coupler guards white! The door windows look a bit bigger than usual and the yellow safety stripe isn't in the picture!

Looks like a good refurb. I like that style of seating. Connex should take note.

Did anyone else see what seemed to be a fire drill at Perth Station today?
We heard a siren type sound but thought nothing of it until our train was a 2 car instead of a 4 car, so we couldn't catch it (and it leaves platform 8 whereas every other freo train leaves from platform 7), so we had to move down. In the building behind the midland line, there was a light flashing. It looked like a test, and there was a medium group of people wearing all the same colour shirts who I thought might of been actors that transit guards had to escort out but then a fire truck came and firefighters came out... But I thought it was probably fake because no civilians were being escorted out of the building.
Did anyone else see that?
