My friends late Grandfather, who wokred as a fettler on the NSW Railways, used to operate trikes and apparently regularly used a "Number 5" type trike.
We know bugger all about NSW trikes and would like to ask if anybody has any detailed information about these trikes and if their is anything significant to know about them from their history.
Does anybody have or can anybody please point us in the right direction for where we can get some detailed information and/or view some photos of what these trikes look like?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for any assistance given!

Comeng,
Contact the Tenterfield Railway Group at:
http://www.tenterfieldbiz.com/railway/
and see if they can get you some photos of the 7 different styles of trikes that they have in their collection. One of them should be a #5.
Is it a motorized or push-pull trike?
Regards

You might also want to ask RP user Albert, he's right into the NSW trikes.
Here's his website: http://nswgrtrikes.4t.com/

Thanks flying_donkey!
Comeng, My site has every mainstream type of trike used in NSW. I say mainstream because there were alot of modified ones based off them. I've never heard to any of them being refered to as a "Number 5" but that's not to say it doesn't exsist, there are many names the trikes are refered to.
Read Greg Lees "Trikes and Trolleys" it will give you the best background of trikes in NSW that you'll find on the net.

Chances are slim jmw2508. I joined here not long after my grandfather's retirement after 47 years signalling at Hurstville, and not one person here had heard of him. The railways are just way to big for two people to have been likely to have known each other.

A book on NSW trikes has been prepared and is with the ARHS/nsw awaiting publishing.
